Pentecost Sunday
First Reading
Acts 2:1-11

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,
they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky
a noise like a strong driving wind,
and it filled the entire house in which they were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,
which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak in different tongues,
as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.
At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd,
but they were confused
because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
They were astounded, and in amazement they asked,
“Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language?
We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites,
inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,
Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia,
Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene,
as well as travelers from Rome,
both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs,
yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues
of the mighty acts of God.”

Responsorial Psalm
Ps 104:1, 24, 29-30, 31, 34
Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
or:
℟. Alleluia.
Bless the LORD, O my soul!
O LORD, my God, you are great indeed!
How manifold are your works, O LORD!
the earth is filled with your creatures.

℟. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

May the glory of the LORD endure forever;
may the LORD be glad in all his works!
Pleasing to him be my theme;
I will be glad in the LORD.

℟. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

If you take away their breath, they perish
and return to their dust.
When you send forth your spirit, they are created,
and you renew the face of the earth.

℟. Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

Second Reading
Corinthians 12:3b-7, 12-13

Brothers and sisters:
No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the holy Spirit.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit;
there are different forms of service but the same Lord;
there are different workings but the same God
who produces all of them in everyone.
To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit
is given for some benefit.

As a body is one though it has many parts,
and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,
so also Christ.
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,
whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,
and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

SEQUENCE

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!

Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.

You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;

In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.

O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
And our inmost being fill!

Where you are not, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint and ill.

Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:

Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.

On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;

Give them virtue’s sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.
Gospel
John 20:19-23

On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,
for fear of the Jews,
Jesus came and stood in their midst
and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.
The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.
As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit.
Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained.”

In celebration of Pentecost Sunday and the Renewal of Commitment of the Religious Organizations and Ministries of the Minor Basilica of St. Nicholas of Tolentino and Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Cristo Milagroso, we warmly invite all members of the different religious organizations and ministries to participate in this meaningful celebration on May 24, 2026, during the 10:00 AM Holy Mass.

Pentecost is the celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, giving them strength, courage, and zeal to continue the mission of Christ and build up the Church. In the same spirit, this Renewal of Commitment reminds us that every ministry and organization is called to serve faithfully, guided and strengthened by the Holy Spirit.

As one community of faith, let us renew our dedication to God and recommit ourselves to our mission of service, unity, and evangelization within the Church.

May the Holy Spirit continue to inspire and guide all our ministries in becoming true instruments of Christ’s love and presence.

Sinait Minor Basilica Socom Welcomes Three New Members

The Social Communications Ministry of the Minor Basilica of St. Nicholas of Tolentino and Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Cristo Milagroso welcomed three new members during the 10:00 a.m. Mass on May 17, 2026, coinciding with the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord and the celebration of the 60th World Communications Sunday.

The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Willie Jones Ducusin, Rector and Parish Priest, who formally inducted the new members into the ministry. During the celebration, the relic of Saint Carlo Acutis, patron saint of the Social Communications Ministry, was exposed for public veneration.

As part of the rite of induction, the newly accepted members received the official medal bearing the logo of the ministry, symbolizing their commitment to serve the Church through evangelization and modern communication.

This year’s World Communications Sunday carries the theme “Preserving Human Voices and Faces,” emphasizing the importance of truthful and responsible communication in the digital age.

On this celebration of the World Communications Day, we, the Social Communications Ministry of the Minor Basilica of St. Nicholas of Tolentino and Archdiocesan Shrine of Sto. Cristo Milagroso, entrusted with managing and maintaining the official social media platforms of the Sinait Minor Basilica, recognizes the vital role of social communication in proclaiming the Good News and strengthening the faith of God’s people. Through their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, the ministry continues to harness the power of media and communication to connect pilgrims, devotees, and parishioners more closely to the loving presence of Sto. Cristo Milagroso.

Inspired by the example of Saint Carlo Acutis, who used modern technology as a means of evangelization, the ministry strives to make the life and mission of the parish accessible to all through various social platforms and digital media. Under the guidance and pastoral leadership of our beloved priests, the ministry faithfully serves as an instrument in spreading the Word of God, bringing the message of Christ to people both within and beyond our parish community.

As we celebrate World Communications Day, let us continue to pray for the members of the Social Communications Ministry, that they may remain steadfast in their vocation of service to God and His people, always inspired by faith, humility, and zeal in proclaiming Christ’s message of hope and salvation through the modern means of communication entrusted to them.

Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
(World Communication’s Sunday)
First Reading
Acts 1:1-11

In the first book, Theophilus,
I dealt with all that Jesus did and taught
until the day he was taken up,
after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit
to the apostles whom he had chosen.
He presented himself alive to them
by many proofs after he had suffered,
appearing to them during forty days
and speaking about the kingdom of God.
While meeting with them,
he enjoined them not to depart from Jerusalem,
but to wait for “the promise of the Father
about which you have heard me speak;
for John baptized with water,
but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

When they had gathered together they asked him,
“Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
He answered them, “It is not for you to know the times or seasons
that the Father has established by his own authority.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem,
throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
When he had said this, as they were looking on,
he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight.
While they were looking intently at the sky as he was going,
suddenly two men dressed in white garments stood beside them.
They said, “Men of Galilee,
why are you standing there looking at the sky?
This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven
will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.”

Responsorial Psalm
Ps. 47:2-3, 6-7, 8-9

℟. (6) God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

All you peoples, clap your hands,
shout to God with cries of gladness,
For the LORD, the Most High, the awesome,
is the great king over all the earth.

℟. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

God mounts his throne amid shouts of joy;
the LORD, amid trumpet blasts.
Sing praise to God, sing praise;
sing praise to our king, sing praise.

℟. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

For king of all the earth is God;
sing hymns of praise.
God reigns over the nations,
God sits upon his holy throne.

℟. God mounts his throne to shouts of joy: a blare of trumpets for the Lord.
or:
℟. Alleluia.

Second Reading
Ephesians 1:17-23

Brothers and sisters:
May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory,
give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation
resulting in knowledge of him.
May the eyes of your hearts be enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call
what are the riches of glory
in his inheritance among the holy ones,
and what is the surpassing greatness of his power
for us who believe,
in accord with the exercise of his great might,
which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead
and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,
far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion,
and every name that is named
not only in this age but also in the one to come.
And he put all things beneath his feet
and gave him as head over all things to the church,
which is his body,
the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.

Gospel
Matthew 28:16-20
The eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

From Empty Tomb to Full Hearts✨

The Eastern Youth Camp was officially kicked off last April 24 -25, 2026. Together with Rev. Fr. Bryan Garibay - Archdiocesan Youth Director as a resource speaker during the said event.

On Day 1, the youth participants started the event with socialization - an activity wherein the partakers have the chance to get to know the other partakers as well. Followed by Lang - Ay and reminders of house rules.

On Day 2, The youth participants started the day with Way of Light to meditate on the joyful events from Jesus' resurrection to the coming of the Holy Spirit, highlighting light and victory over death.

Easter is not just something that happened before — Jesus is alive NOW. And because He is alive, He is not distant. He is present. 🤍

The Road to Emmaus reminds us that sometimes, the risen Jesus is with us even when we fail to recognize Him. “Talking about Jesus is different from talking to Jesus.” We meet Him most especially in the Holy Eucharist — not just a symbol, but Jesus Himself truly present.

“Love shows up. The Eucharist is Jesus showing up.”
And as Fr. Bryan Garibay said, “Presence is the minimum requirement of love.”

This talk reminded me that we cannot receive something sacred in an ordinary way. We are called to come to Him with reverence, awareness, prayerfulness, and intention. Every Communion is an Easter encounter with Jesus. ✝️

In addition, the youth participants also share their insights and experiences during the talk. Through this activity, everyone can learn from each other and gain meaningful lessons. Afterwards, they awarded the youth participants who graduated from Senior High Scchool, Junior High School and Elementary.

To conclude, this youth camp is more than just a camp, it's a builder and the bridge of stronger connection towards Jesus and deepening our knowledge about our faith.
