Today, we commemorate the birth of Saint Padre Pio — a humble servant of God whose life became a witness of prayer, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.

Born to lead souls closer to Christ, Saint Padre Pio inspired countless faithful through his devotion to the Holy Eucharist, the Holy Rosary, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. His words and example continue to remind us that “Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God’s heart.”

As we honor his birth today, may we also imitate his deep love for God and compassionate service to others.

Saint Padre Pio, pray for us.

PENTECOST SUNDAY

As we concluded the last Mass of Pentecost Sunday, the Paschal Candle was reverently transferred to the Baptistry after the 6:30 PM Mass— a sacred reminder that through Baptism, we are called to carry the light of Christ into the world.

From the joy of Easter to the fire of Pentecost, may this light continue to guide our hearts, strengthen our faith, and remind us that the Holy Spirit lives within us, leading us to become witnesses of God’s love every day.

Following the 3:30 PM Holy Mass earlier today, May 24, the faithful of Silay once again witnessed the beauty of tradition and devotion through the annual Santacruzan de Silay.

Adorned with flowers, gowns, arches, and symbols of faith, the procession featured the different queens and biblical representations that reflect the search for the Holy Cross of Saint Helena. Streets were filled with grace and reverence as participants carried the timeless heritage of the Santacruzan — a celebration of faith, culture, and Marian devotion.

The procession highlighted the vibrant elements of the Santacruzan, including the Reyna Elena and Reyna Emperatriz, floral decorations, carrozas, candles, veils, and crosses, reminding the community of the triumph of the Cross and the enduring devotion of the faithful.

Through prayer, tradition, and unity, Santacruzan de Silay continues to be a living testament to the rich Catholic heritage of the city.

Today, May 24, 2026, the parish community gathered as one in faith and spirit to honor Pentecost Sunday through a solemn Eucharistic Celebration led by Rev. Fr. Serafin Nava III. The celebration reflected the faithful’s unity and devotion as they commemorated the coming of the Holy Spirit and its enduring presence in the life of the Church.

Before the Holy Mass, the different parish lay organizations and ministries participated in a vibrant parade of banners, proudly representing their respective groups and ministries. The procession beautifully expressed the community’s unity, dedication, and shared mission in building and strengthening God’s Church through faithful service.

As we commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit, may our hearts be continually renewed in faith, strengthened in service, and inspired to become instruments of God’s love and peace in the lives of others. “Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.”

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in us the fire of Your love.

Today, we celebrate Pentecost Sunday — the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, empowering them to proclaim the Gospel with courage and faith.

May the same Spirit renew our hearts, strengthen our mission, and unite us as one Church in Christ.

“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:4

Twelve Lin-ay sang Silay candidates gathered this evening for a recollection in preparation for their participation in the upcoming Santacruzan de Silay, at San Diego Parish's San Jose Hall at 7:30 PM.

The gathering served as a moment of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal as the candidates reflected on their important role in one of the city’s cherished religious and cultural traditions, Santacruzan de Silay.

The recollection emphasized the deeper meaning of the Santacruzan as more than a celebration of beauty and pageantry, but a witness of faith, devotion, and service to the Church.

Through moments of reflection and prayer, the candidates were reminded to embody the virtues of humility, grace, and faith exemplified by the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Santacruzan de Silay 2026 will be held on Sunday, May 24, bringing together the faithful and the community in celebration of faith, culture, and tradition.
