๐‘ด๐’†๐’†๐’• Seminarian Edmund Caldera

A graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education from Pilar, Capiz, who joined the Society of African Missions (SMA) in 2022.

Responding to the call to missionary life, Edmund entered the Preparatory Program and spent two years studying for a Certificate in Philosophy in Silang, Cavite. He was then sent to Benin, West Africa, where he underwent the SMAโ€™s International Spiritual Year.

He is now undertaking his pastoral exposure in Benin, immersing himself in the life, culture, and faith of the people he is called to serve.

Edmund represents a new generation of young professionals who have chosen to say YES to the missionary callโ€”offering their talents, time, and lives in the service of the Gospel.

May his journey inspire other young people to listen to Godโ€™s call and discover where He is inviting them to serve.

Jervin Medina is from Las Piรฑas City, Philippines. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and joined the Society of African Missions (SMA) in 2021.

Humbly responding to Godโ€™s call, he began his formation through the Preparatory Program in Silang, Cavite, and Associate in Philosophy Course, followed by the SMA International Year in Benin, West Africa, and a period of pastoral exposure.

He is now in Nairobi, Kenya, taking his first year of Theology at Tangaza University College, continuing his formation and missionary journey toward the priesthood.

From Las Piรฑas to Africa, his journey continuesโ€”learning, serving, and discerning Godโ€™s call in the mission.

Christian Cervantes, from Brgy. Culasian, Capoocan, Leyte, courageously answered Godโ€™s call after graduating from Grade 12 and joined the Society of African Missions (SMA) in 2019.

His vocation is a journey of faith, discernment, and generous self-giving.

Today, Christian is in Benin, West Africa, for his Spiritual Year, deepening his relationship with Christ and preparing his heart for the missionary priesthood.

From Leyte to West Africa, his journey witnesses that God calls, we respond, and the mission becomes our life.

From Mati, Davao Oriental, Mindanao, Nino A. Iligan was a professional teacher before answering Godโ€™s call to missionary life.

A temporary SMA member since 2024, he is now in his second year of theological studies at the Institut Catholique Missionnaire dโ€™Abidjan (ICMA), Ivory Coast, West Africaโ€”the first Filipino SMA student to pursue theological studies in French.

His formation has included pastoral exposure at Paroisse Cล“ur Immaculรฉ de Marie, Nikki, Diocese of Nโ€™Dali, Republic of Benin, West Africa.

Nino said yes to Godโ€™s call. Today, he is preparing to give his life to the mission.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS, GOD MAY BE CALLING YOU TOO.

Are you a teacher, engineer, nurse, accountant, entrepreneur, IT professional, or young worker?

Have you ever thought that God might be calling you to become a missionary?

Your profession is not the end of your story.
Your life can become a mission.

Donโ€™t be afraid to ask:
โ€œLord, are You calling me?โ€

If you feel that God may be inviting you to missionary life, donโ€™t ignore that call.

Talk to an SMA missionary.
Start your discernment.
Give God the chance to show you His plan.

YOUR LIFE. YOUR CALL. GODโ€™S MISSION.

COME AND DISCERN.
COME AND SERVE.
COME AND BE AN SMA MISSIONARY.

With hearts filled with gratitude, we thank Fr. Raul for his generous and faithful service as the Formator of the Preparatory Program in SMA Formation House - Philippines. Through your fatherly guidance, patience, and unwavering commitment, you have accompanied many young men in the first steps of their vocational journey, inspiring them to respond to God's call with courage, generosity, and faith.

As you begin your new mission as Formator at the SMA Seminary Formation House in Accra, Ghana, West Africa, we assure you of our prayers and gratitude. May the Lord continue to bless your ministry with wisdom, strength, and joy as you accompany and form future missionaries in the spirit of Christ.

We entrust your missionary journey to the loving care of God, the maternal protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the intercession of St. Thรฉrรจse of Lisieux, Patroness of the Missions, and the inspiration of Venerable Bishop Melchior de Marion Brรฉsillac, Founder of the Society of African Missions. May their prayers strengthen you and fill your ministry with abundant grace as you continue the mission of forming missionaries dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel to all nations.

Thank you, dear Father Formator, for your generous witness, your kindness, and your unwavering dedication to priestly and missionary formation. Your guidance has left a lasting imprint on our hearts, and your example will continue to inspire us wherever God may lead us.

Bon Voyage, Fr. Raul!
May the Good Shepherd watch over you, bless your mission in Ghana, and grant you peace, strength, and abundant joy. Be assured of our continued prayers as you faithfully carry forward the missionary vision of the Society of African Missions.
