FRUSTRATED IN GOD'S SILENCE
Juan 12:21 | “Ginoo, nais po naming makita si Jesus.”
In times of darkness, misery, despair, suffering, and tragedies we become frustrated by the silence of God.
"Where is He?"
"Why is He hiding?"
"I cannot hear his voice anymore!"
"Does He exist?"
Hinahanap natin ang tanglaw ng Diyos subalit bigo tayong makita ang kanyang liwanag.Tila nababalot ng kadiliman ang mundo at boses niya'y natatabunan ng ingay ng mga hagulhol at pagtangis ng tao.
In the silence of God, we feel helpless, and we seem hopeless. His absence draws us to fear the future and regret the past. We know no boundaries for the path is all blurry. How can we find God in His absence?
God is Present in His absence.
God’s presence is so much beyond the human experience of being together that it quite easily is perceived as absence. God’s absence, on the other hand, is often so deeply felt that it leads to a new sense of God’s presence. His presence is not limited to our human intimacy and achievement. He is within us and such experience with Him can only be perceived through how much love we put into the experience, even in the most challenging one.
He is not Hiding; we are the ones hiding from Him.
Because of our failures, misdeeds, frailties, and concupiscence, we tend to hide from Him unconsciously. We conform with the darkness of the experience which is why we tend to hide from a source of light. We seek him in our loneliness, yet our hearts are full of anxieties and troubles. He never hides His face from us, we tend not to seek him for we are blinded by the sorrows of this life and deafened by the chaos in our hearts.
Be patient, there is the right time for everything.
Everything passes! All things have their end including suffering. As the moon bids farewell through the dawning of the sun, so as the tears bid farewell when the right time comes. Like Jesus, He hid himself (John 12:36) after the Greeks looked for Him for the time has not come yet. And even before His ministry began the last account of Jesus was in his 12th year and the missing years are kept in silence.
This taught us that there will always be a right time for everything. The days are fleeting even our suffering. Thus, it is somehow worthwhile to indulge in the suffering for the end is near and the silence of God shall be broken in time.
We all want to see Jesus, especially in the most challenging moments in our life. We all want to see a glimpse of hope in times of despair. One thing is for sure, God's silence is temporary, and so as our sufferings. In the end, whatever the situation is, as long as we seek to glorify Him, even in his silence, we hear His voice; and in His absence, we encounter His presence.
