Remembering Romeo G. Crismo, UMYF president of the Northern Philippines Annual Conference, and the first executive secretary of the National United Methodist Youth Fellowship in the Philippines.
Remembered as the Father of PANANAW, the official newsletter of the national UMYFP, Romy also served as education secretary of the Student Christian Movement.
"Romy was a human candle burning in the night that others may have light and see," wrote Atty. Oscar R. Ferrer. "He was of the heroic stuff, the Biblical young man who sees visions and not worldly possessions. That made him different from us."
It's been 42 years since he was abducted by the forces of Martial Law in Tuguegarao, Cagayan, but his remains have yet to be found. "When I die, bury my remains in a place where you go," he asked of me. Such a simple request...if only I could find him. Romy was recognized as MARTYR and HERO on December 9, 2003 by the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Foundation."
