October is the Month of the Laity. It is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of the lay in the development of the Church in life, work and witness, and to encourage more lay faithful to proactively engage in the ministries of the church.
Part of it is Youth Sunday, falling on Oct. 15. We, thus, encourage young people in the parishes and missions to observe it through heeding the following recommendations:
-Youth Sunday Offering, which is a second offering whose proceeds will be divided among the parish or mission (50%), the diocese (25%) and the national level (25%)
-YIFI leadership during the Mass, including the giving of reflections in lieu of the ordained minister’s Homily
-Saying of the special intercessory prayer based on the concerns of youth, as endorsed by NYEC
-Programs after the Mass, which may include fellowships, orientations or outreach
-Wide consumption and dissemination of the YIFI reflection to be posted on the IFI Central Office page
