Title: Stand firm in the faith and let thanks abound.
Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7
Speaker: Rev. Eligio Tiamzon
♠Introduction
▶ An evangelist is one who fulfills God's desires, and there is a fundamental basis (vessel) for an evangelist. Observing the way the world operates, one must quickly recognize that this is inevitable. This is because there is no answer.
(1) Uniqueness—Therefore, we must delve deeply into the mystery of Christ, the uniqueness.
(2) God is working 24 hours a day, and He is fulfilling His Word even now (that is why today's Word is needed). God does not lie (Numbers 23:19). He is answering prayers 24 hours a day even now (today's prayer is needed. John 14:14). He is accomplishing the work of salvation even now (that is why today's evangelism is needed in my life. Matt 24:14, Acts 13:48).
(3) If so, we (evangelists) simply need to take root in Christ (the Gospel) (Colossians 2:6-7, Jeremiah 17:7-8).
▶ Therefore, an evangelist must be well-equipped with the fundamentals.
1. There is something God has given → Gratitude
(1) The 66 books of the Bible are the sole rule of faith and life (Canon). The core of the entire Bible is: ① God has given us blessings. Use these blessings to conquer the whole world and live.
② However, humanity has lost these blessings. What is the problem? He has promised an answer to this problem.
(2) Therefore, He has given us the Gospel (Christ). The core of the entire Bible is Christ.
▶ The Gospel is the way to meet God (John 14:6), the way to resolve the problem of sin (original sin) (Mark 10:45), and the way to break the power of Satan and overcome (1 John 3:8). Salvation comes when we believe in Christ as our Savior. And when Christ becomes the Lord of my life, the Holy Spirit works (John 2:1-11).
(3) God has given us salvation as a gift.
2. We Have Something → Assurance
(1) The Secret - Christ
(2) The Name of Jesus - A name of authority (Philippians 2:9-11, 2:21; the name upon which all things bow and obey). He gave us the name to use.
(3) Faith - We possess faith. When we believe, miracles happen.
3. We Have Something to Enjoy → Strength (Happiness)
(1) We just need to enjoy what God has given us - Enjoy it through prayer (He has given all the answers in Christ).
(2) Enjoy the fact that God is with us even now through the Holy Spirit (Immanuel - He is with us in problems, difficulties, and everyday life).
(3) Enjoy the status and authority of being a child of God.
4. We Have Something to Share → Reason (Mission)
(1) It is to share what I possess and what I am enjoying.
(2) It is to give the answer to life (Christ).
(3) It is to share the life of Jesus. (4) Therefore, the answer "Only" is inevitable (The Gospel Only Movement, Only Jesus, Only Christ).
5. Conclusion - The Evangelist's Confession
(1) Today, Jesus is Christ.
(2) Christ is the answer to all the problems in my life.
(3) I am a child of God.
(4) The reason I must live, the direction of my life, is to be an evangelistic disciple.
(5) Every problem is a blessing, an opportunity, and a stepping stone.
(6) There is a better plan of God for my future.
(7) Fight the spiritual battle against the forces of darkness challenging me to bring me down in the name of the Lord Jesus, who has authority (it is a battle already won).
(8) Hold fast to today's Word. Gain spiritual strength.
(9) Through today's prayer, receive the work and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
(10) As a witness of the Gospel today (the life of an evangelist).
▶ Just like Acts 1:14, hold fast to today's Word as a covenant and pray. Then the answer of Acts 2:1 is bound to come.
Let us walk the most beautiful steps on earth, the steps of an evangelist (Isaiah 52:7). I bless you to triumph through the life and steps of an evangelist.
To do so, I pray that you become people who are well-equipped with the fundamentals and the right vessel.
