IFI - Parish of Saint Rose of Lima This page is dedicated to the IFI-Parish of Saint Rose of Lima
Diocese of Laguna, City of Santa Rosa, Laguna According to accounts written by Mr.

Rogelio Lijauco, a group of people from Santa Rosa organized by Dona Tomasa Nepomuceno, Francisco Gonzales, Vicente de Guzman, Manuel Anonuevo, Santos Cartagena, Simon Salvador, Policarpio Tiongco, Sixto Angeles, Captain Andres Zavalla and others separated from the Roman Catholic Church and joined the Iglesia Filipina Independiente because of the oppression of spanish priests (prayle). The first

Eucharistic Celebration was held at a nipa hut in Melchor Catindig's yard at Barangay Ibaba by Fr. Manuel Aguilar followed by another Holy Mass last December 30, 1906 at Teodora Zavalla's bahay-tisa. On October 1, 1906, Fr. Cirilo Domingo was appointed to be local priest and administrator of the local church. But because of misunderstanding among the organizers, the church was burnt. But because of the Filipino Culture, "lalong nasusugatan ay nag-iibayo ang tapang", the organizers again search for means to build another church made of wood, galvanize and cement which was inaugurated in August 30, 1969.
