Vicariate of Saint Joseph Youth Seminar in collaboration with Care for Young Minds Foundation 💚
Theme: Growing Through Understanding – Handling Criticism Amidst Service
Held at Function Hall, Virgen delos Remedios Parish, Dila-dila, Sta. Rita | August 1, 2026
Today, the young servants of the Vicariate of Saint Joseph gathered here at Virgen delos Remedios Parish to embrace a vital truth: criticism is never a sign to stop serving, but an invitation to grow deeper in faith and character. As we come together from our different communities, we acknowledge that serving God and our neighbors does not shield us from harsh words, doubts, or corrections. This seminar reminds us that true discipleship means learning to meet these moments with understanding rather than hurt, and to see every challenge as a way to become more like the faithful Saint Joseph, who trusted God even when things were difficult.
Handling criticism while serving begins with anchoring our hearts in purpose. We do not serve to gain praise or prove ourselves; we serve out of love for God and care for the people around us. This foundation helps us distinguish between feedback meant to guide us and words meant to harm us. We learn that humility lets us accept what we can improve, while grace gives us the strength to let go of what does not come from love. Growth happens not when we avoid mistakes or silence all criticism, but when we choose to let these experiences refine our intentions and strengthen our commitment to serve well.
As we close our gathering at the VDLR Parish Function Hall this August 1, we carry this lesson forward to every ministry and community across our Vicariate. May we walk as young people who listen deeply, act gently, and remain steadfast in our calling. Guided by the example of Saint Joseph and the loving care of Virgen delos Remedios, let us show that our service becomes more meaningful not in spite of criticism, but because we have learned to grow through it—together as one family of faith.
