ASCENSION SUNDAY
Today, we celebrate not an ending… but a promise.
The Ascension reminds us that Jesus did not leave us to abandon us. He returned to the Father so that we may never lose hope and so that we may remember that Heaven is real, eternal, and waiting for us.
As the disciples looked up and watched Jesus ascend into Heaven, imagine the emotions they carried:
fear,
wonder,
sadness,
hope,
and faith.
Yet before He ascended, Jesus gave them a mission:
“Go and make disciples of all nations.”
And that mission continues today — through us.
In a world filled with noise, pressure, anxiety, distractions, and uncertainty, Ascension Sunday reminds us to lift our eyes again toward God.
Not everything in life is about success, popularity, money, or achievements.
Sometimes we become so focused on surviving life that we forget where we are truly meant to belong.
Jesus ascended not to move farther away from us — but to draw our hearts closer to Heaven.
This feast is also a reminder:
You are called for more.
Your life has meaning.
Your faith has purpose.
Your story is still being written by God.
Even when you feel lost…
Even when your prayers feel unanswered…
Even when your faith becomes weak…
Jesus still calls you.
And just as He entrusted the disciples with His mission despite their fears and doubts, He also entrusts something beautiful to you.
Maybe your mission is:
to inspire,
to forgive,
to serve,
to lead,
to create,
to pray,
to listen,
to heal,
or simply to bring light into someone’s darkness.
Never think your presence has no value.
God can use even your wounds, struggles, and imperfections for something holy.
Ascension Sunday is not just about Jesus going up.
It is about our hearts learning to rise again.
Rise above sin.
Rise above hopelessness.
Rise above hatred.
Rise above fear.
Rise above the things pulling us away from God.
Because our true home is not this world alone.
And while our feet remain on earth, our hearts must always remain fixed on Christ.
So today, pause for a moment.
Look up.
Pray deeply.
Trust again.
Jesus is still leading us.
Jesus is still present.
Jesus is still calling.
And one day, if we remain faithful,
we too will rise with Him.
