It was founded on April 10, 2024, in response to the removal of girl sacristans within the diocese, aiming to continue providing young women with opportunities to serve God and deepen their faith through the guidance of Mary. Initially named Knights of Mary, but soon adopted the name Hijas de Maria, as they consider themselves daughters of Mary and sisters of Jesus, even before the formal installa
tion of its members on July 20, 2024. Although Hijas de Maria started with the former girl sacristans, it has now opened its doors to all young women in the parish who wish to serve, learn, and grow in their faith. The group helps young women get closer to God, through the help of Mary. Hijas de Maria strives to embody Mama Mary's characteristics like humility, kindness, and unwavering faith in their daily lives. While Hijas de Maria is new to serving, they are determined to make a lasting impact on the parish community. With over 50 members, the group actively serves every Sunday, conducts various activities, and participates in both Marian and general church events. The foundation of Hijas de Maria is a strong commitment to growing their love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, believing this will help them get closer to Jesus. By following her example of trusting God and showing love to others, they strive to embody her spirit of service in everything they do. Through prayer and active participation in parish activities, they seek to live out their faith with Mary as our inspiration. Hijas de Maria takes on various roles within the parish, showing their commitment to service in many ways. They are involved in different ministries, such as the Parish Commission on Youth, Lectors and Commentators, a helping hand to the Love Offering Group, and a choir member. This highlights their dedication to being a part of the parish community, united by their love for Mary and devotion to her Son, Jesus Christ.
