IN-PHOTOS: As the Santa Barbara Altar Knights, cover the sacred images and crucifix inside the Parish Church.
As we enter the hallowed days of Passiontide, the last two weeks of Lent, we're invited to journey with Jesus through His passion, death, and resurrection. Passiontide begins on 5th Sunday of Lent and culminates on Holy Saturday, calling us to reflect on the sacrifice and love of our Savior.
During Passiontide, you'll notice changes in our churches: the veiling of images and statues in purple, symbolizing mourning and penitence, and the somber tones of the liturgy, drawing us into the gravity of Jesus' sacrifice.
So, how can we observe Passiontide meaningfully? We can reflect on the Passion by meditating on Jesus' journey, from His triumphal entry to His crucifixion and resurrection. We can simplify our lives, increase prayer and fasting, and participate in liturgical celebrations like Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. Let's also reach out to the marginalized and practice self-denial as acts of charity.
Let us unite in prayer, reflection, and acts of love as we journey through Passiontide. May we be transformed by the love of Christ, and may our Lenten practices bear fruit in our lives.
