Objectives:
PREX attempts:
-To provide the direction and approaches for strengthening and deepening the life of the parish
-To make parishioners experience the joy and feel the dignity as members of the Body of Christ
-To begin a commitment to belong to one another as Church
-To develop down-to-earth spirituality in response to the search for meaningful ways to experience God's presence in our
lives
-To call people to evangelization – to bring the teachings of Vatican II to the grass roots; to prepare our people for bringing the Good News into all levels of humanity and through its influence, transforms humanity from within and make it new.
-To unify the parish
In line with these objectives, this weekend seminar will focus on the rediscovery of:
-Our relationship with those who gave us the faith
-The reasons why we wish to keep the faith
-The direction we need to take to pass on the faith to others. History:
It was January 1995 when Kuya Mar & Ate Susan Sta. Ana attended PREX Seminar Class No. 20 in Sto. Rosario Parish (SRP), Pacita I, San Pedro, Laguna. During graduation their mission is to have a special PREX Seminar exclusively for the staff of their respective office. However, instead of having a PREX special class, SRP decided to have an outreach in our parish. They presented the plan to Msgr. Benito Pasuyuin, the Parish Priest, but due to retire in March 1995 and then to his successor Msgr. Renato Cosico. It was 2nd Weekend of April 1995 when PREX Seminar No.1 was born in San Pedro Apostol Parish (SPAP) held in Liceo de San Pedro. It was a big success; hence, more PREX seminars come about. From its humble beginnings in Liceo de San Pedro, it transferred to seven more venues before it had a permanent setting in the Parish Hall in year 2000. Over the years, PREX SPAP has accumulated materials and equipments for their seminars, established music ministry and has conducted numerous workshops for their lead couples and speakers. The National Association of Parish PREX Secretariats (NAPPS) was pushing for 2,000 Outreached Parish by year 2000. PREX SPAP has fervently joined this goal by providing outreach program themselves. After PREX No. 10, April 1996 SPAP PREX Secretariat had their 1st Outreach in Chair of St. Peter Parish, Balibago, Sta. Rosa, Laguna - Rev. Doy Bariring. Other outreach program were as follow: Sta. Rosa de Lima Parish, Pob., Sta. Anthony Ricafort ; San Antonio de Padua Parish, Pob., Pila, Laguna - Msgr. Renato Cosico ; St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna - Rev. Rex de los Angeles ; San Isidro Labrabor Parish, Pob., Calauan, Laguna - Rev. Seldon Coronado. We also help revive the PREX of San Antonio de Padua Parish, San Antonio, Kalayaan, Laguna - Rev. Boyet Sidayao in April 1998. The PREX SPAP Chair Couples were Kuya Mar & Ate Susan Sta. Ana (1995-1999 ; 2005-2007 ; 2012-2013), Kuya G*t & Ate Aring Sarmiento (1999-2001 ; 2007-2008), Kuya Weng & Ate Tess Sogueco (2001-2002 ; 2008-2009), Kuya Nesty & Ate Beth Cababat (2002-2003 ; 2011-2012), Kuya Delio & Ate Elsa Hatulan (2003-2004), Kuya Rudy & Ate Sally Panzo (2004-2005) and Kuya John & Ate Amor dela Cruz (2009-2010). The PREX has made a tremendous unifying effect in the lives and life style of our parishioners. Many conversions took place in their material and spiritual lives. Some of our graduates became gov’t officials like Brgy. Capts., Municipal Councilors, Congressman, Vice Gov., Parish church workers, president of different Organizations & Ministries and Pres. of Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Finance Council. We are blessed to announce that on the 3rd weekend of November 2013 PREX SPAP will have its PREX No. 165 Seminar. PREX has given its parishioners an opportunity to experience God’s love and the love of their fellow Catholics. We would continuously strive to encourage unity and belongingness to allow everyone to enjoy the true meaning of the being part of the Family of God.
