May is the month when we celebrate Flores de Mayo and the Santacruzan—a cherished tradition filled with beauty, offerings, and praises in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Santacruzan is rooted in the historical and religious story of Queen Helena's journey to the Holy Land and her miraculous discovery of the Holy Cross. Derived from the Spanish term Santa Cruz, meaning "Holy Cross," the Santacruzan features a procession of beautifully dressed ladies portraying biblical and historical figures. Each queen symbolizes virtues embodied by the Blessed Virgin Mary, such as faith, hope, humility, and charity.
As we celebrate these traditions, we are reminded that faith is not merely expressed through public displays and rituals. Rather, it is reflected in the way we live each day. Mary's humility calls us to serve without seeking recognition, her patience teaches us to trust in God's timing, and her charity challenges us to love even when it is difficult.
This year, we proudly present Jedyne Faith I of Takas Norte as our crowned Reyna Elena.
We also invite everyone to join tomorrow's procession, which will begin at 6:00 AM. Come and witness our youth walk in faith as they carry the symbols of the different queens of the Santacruzan, each representing a meaningful part of our Christian heritage and devotion to the Blessed Mother.
May this celebration inspire us all to follow the example of Mary and grow deeper in faith, service, and love.
