For this coming Sunday reflection - Nov. 30, 2025

1st Suday of Advent

Matthew 24:37-44

Many Sundays throughout every year since Jesus' ascension into heaven, we have heard about what we believe as the second coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. During this time of advent, this event has always been given emphasis as we prepare ourselves for Christ birth on Christmas.

Many of the early Christ followers and believers at that time thought that the second coming will happen in their lifetime. But let us not forget what our Lord said, that this generation will not pass away before his second coming will happen. All of us are still part of this waiting generation and we are getting closer to this event than ever before.

Unfortunately, there are many among us who are still unprepared. Unprepared because either they deny this important event as truth or they don't have any idea how to prepare for this great event.

The signs our Lord mentioned in our Gospel reading this Sunday, are more evident today than more than two thousand years ago and Noone can deny it. And the truth is, each of us will be caught off-guard. As our Lord described it, two people working in the field, one will be taken away, and the other will be left behind. The rapture.

Climate change, global warming, pole shift - what other terms do we need to describe it. Only one way to describe all these, as our Lord Jesus described it,

"There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars; on earth nations in agony, bewildered by the clamour of the ocean and its waves; men dying of fear as they await what menaces the world."
(Luke 21)

Scientists and archeologists have presented facts that our planet undergo a cycle of rebirth like the kind of restart that happened during the time of Noah.
These scientists have come up with a conclusion that this cycle happens around every 6000 years. Since the last recycle, we are now again in the 6000 year period.

Though most people would panic upon hearing this, we, believers and followers of our Lord, Jesus Christ, should never worry nor panic because we have been given enough instruction on how to get ready.

I don't want to say that those who are not under the Catholic teachings will not be saved but the truth is only in the Catholic instruction you can get the clearest and truthful guidelines in such an important preparation. Is this the reason why many Protestant Christians are going back to the Catholic faith?

As for the details of preparation, this will need more time. As for this Sunday's Gospel reflection, the first thing we should do is to confess our wrongful deeds, repent and attitude and ask for absolution of our sins. Only after this can we prepare our whole self for our Lord's second coming.

"The Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect"

Monday's reading:
Luke 13:10-17

Our reading today tells us of that incident where our Lord Jesus healed a possessed woman in a synagogue on a Sabbath. A number of Jews present reacted negatively to our Lord's action. Our Lord showed them what is right and true in God's eyes.

What our Lord Jesus did was an emergency measure as a possessed woman needed help immediately even on a Sabbath.

Those who insist of making holy the Sabbath day up to now is clearly living the old covenant and thus not acknowledging the new covenant which the Son of God has established.

New wine can't be placed into old wineskin or it will destroy this old wineskin. New wine belongs to New wineskin.

If there are those who claimed to be Christians or Christ followers and still upholding the Sabbath as their Lord's day, are completely misleading themselves.

The new covenant of Christ is strongly and clearly anchored on his resurrection and this is the main reason why Christians make Sunday as the Lord's day. If you acknowledge Jesus Christ as the Son of the Father, you should clearly discern that the Sabbath is no longer the focal point of celebration.

Now, we, as Christ' followers and believers, should never hesitate to do emergency help during the Sabbath or on a Sunday.

But what have we done to our Lord's day. We even dared to do anything on this holy day of the week. Examine your lifestyle today and see how much have offended God for not keeping this Holy day for God.

We always justify our vain action by saying that Sunday is your only free day to clean the house, wash the linen, etc. But failed to spend at least an hour or two in worship and thanksgiving.

Some of us even dared to sleep totally on this day or make this day as their social media updating day.

If you are not spending some worship and thanksgiving time for God every Sunday, then don't call yourself God believers and Christians. If you continue to fail to give God this worship, the evil spirits will occupy your body and soul for sure. I don't need to prove this. All we need to do is open our eyes and look at the people around us Either they are being tormented, obsessed, tempted, oppressed and even possessed. We can no longer reason out with these people and they no longer care about any truth you try to tell them. They are all glued to their phones.

All we can do is to protect ourselves with prayer, sacrifices, and charity works in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you strong and brave enough, you can go out there and do the saving and be like Charlie Kirk or someone. But you must be ready to die with Christ.

God bless!

Our Sunday Reflection is from
Luke 18:9-14

In our gospel reading today, our Lord spoke of the parable of the rich and righteous man and a tax collectors praying in the temple.

One feeling so righteous and entitled, while the tax collector felt unworthy and a sinner.

Our Lord ended up saying:
"This man, (the tax collector) I tell you, went home again at rights with God; the other did not. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the man who humbles himself will be exalted.’"

As we gain more experience and in age, we tend to build in us a fortress of righteousness and sense of authority that make us look down on others. We develop this sense of being entitled to the best treatment as possible and never minding the people we hit and hurt along the way.

Road rage is one of the outcome. Shooting spree is another one. Not giving a seat to an elderly, and not giving way to a PWD or old people and even overtake them because we are in a hurry.

This is false righteousness and clearly this is being unjust. Yet there are many of us who attend Sunday services or Mass who think they have done God's will because they are successful and have a lavished life.

No one of us is worthy of God's presence, much more of being worthy to say that we have finished the fight or run the race God had set on us. Inspite of all our effort and good achievements, we have nothing to boast before our God.

Even our best and excellent achievement in what we master to do can only be considered as doing our assigned task from God who expects perfection. And we can't claim perfection but could only reach a satisfactory level which can only reach a score of 99.99%.

The tax collector's attitude is more appreciated by God because despite his accurate work as a tax collector, he doesn't consider his achievement as something that could please God but rather he focused on his imperfection and beg for forgiveness.

False righteousness corrupts while repentance and reparations to one's sins may possibly delay judgment.

God is patient to those who are trying there best to correct their errors but a fair judge to those who even try to hide or escape from the consequences of their abuses.

Our Gospel Reading Reflection for this Sunday:
(Luke 18:1-8)

(Last line)
"But when the Son of Man (our Lord Jesus Christ) comes, will he find any faith on earth?’"

Most of us do not realise that our faith in God Is going weaker by the day. Why? How strongly do we turn to drugs or medicine when we get sick without even thinking that God can heal us?

How many more problems have we resolved with technology and natural means without even thinking that faith can solve problems?

Reflect on how you practice your faith and how you help other people whose faith is weak.

When our Lord return, will He find that strong faith in us?

13/10/2025

Remember what Lord said about looking for a sign when this world will end?

He clearly said that there will be no sign given but the sign that Jonah gave to the people of prosperous Nineveh.

What was it? FASTING and Reparations for our sins.

And do you remember what happen to nations who failed to repent? It will be like S***m and Gomorrah.

Our Gospel Reading this Sunday- quote:

Luke 16:19-31

"Ah no, father Abraham,” said the rich man “but if someone comes to them from the dead, they will repent.” Then Abraham said to him, “If they will not listen either to Moses or to the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone should rise from the dead.”’

REFLECTION

We are all asked to repent so we can live lives worthy of God's presence. Everything in us that is influenced by evil will be cut off so we will be purified. Bless are you who are being purified now with pain and sufferings for our Father in heaven is preparing your soul to be worthy of Him.

Collosians chapter 3
That is why you must kill everything in you that belongs only to earthly life: fornication, impurity, guilty passion, evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god; all this is the sort of behaviour that makes God angry. And it is the way in which you used to live when you were surrounded by people doing the same thing, but now you, of all people, must give all these things up: getting angry, being bad-tempered, spitefulness, abusive language and dirty talk; and never tell each other lies.

The time of helping our neighbors to reconcile with God is about to end.
The time of cleansing has started and the angels of God are wiping out those who are obstinate and persistent with their unbelief.

There will be collateral deaths everywhere. If your faith has saved you, make sure you are not living among unbelievers and people who have no faith in God because you can be killed with them.

Separate yourself from these people now. Relocate yourself among those who trust in God.

Earthquake, flood, volcanic eruptions, landslides will continue to happen in many places annihilating those who do not acknowledge God.

This is a time of prayer, fasting, and repentance so God will see our remorse and postpone the destruction of our place where we have sought shelter.

The whole world has heard the Good News of the Messiah and every one has already been given a chance to hear the truth so they can believe in God and be saved.

Even those who have built strong shelters will not be safe if their heart is not with God.

Time to seek for a community of believers in God and sever yourself from unbelievers lest you perish with them.

Run away like Lot who escaped from the total destruction of S***m and Gomorrah.

These catastrophes will continue to happen in the following days, weeks, and months until nothing will remain but God's faithful ones.

The years of tribulation have started and life in this planet will be degraded and unbearable.

But life in those islands whose people have strong faith and trust in the one true God, will be made safe and secure until the second coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Our Sunday Reading Reflection -August 10, 2025

From readings from the book of Wisdom in the old Testament through the Letter to the Hebrews in the new Testament and climaxing on a reading from the Gospel written by Luke about our Lord, Jesus' life, the main focus is on our FAITH in our God, the Father, and His only Son, Jesus Christ.

Unless we have faith in God and trust fully on His providence, we are not worthy of taking the fruits or resources of this planet. Thus, you will be driven out of this abundant garden. But since you have already exhausted the resources of the land where you came from, you will have nothing to live with and will surely die from famine due to your arrogance, greed, vanity, and godlessness. No one will dare to help because you have already stored treasures from earth. Your race's end is near and your values and behavior will die with you.

Why are Filipinos so faithful to God, our Father? Being the most dangerous country in the whole planet due to many earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, strong typhoons, landslide, flash floods, and some tsunami, etc., our people can't help but rely on God. We always call on God's protection and providence. We have learned our lessons many times, that only God can control all these catastrophes.

Remember the time when our government had given up hope to solve a pestilence of tiny insects that almost destroyed all our coconut trees? A strong typhoon was needed to wipe them all out. A blessed typhoon indeed.

Our Filipino life is totally entwined with our faith and I can confidently say, we can't do otherwise. Our faith get us hoping for a better day, another chance to uplift our lives for a few more days, a week, a month, and even a year. When nothing bad happens, we always want to celebrate tiny milestone by having "salo-salo" or "inuman".

We strongly believe that God can be so generous to many of us but we also believe that God can give us trials by taking all these gifts away.
If ever our lives experience consistent abundance, the only reason we can have is because we remained faithful to our God in humility and compassion.

Since we don't know when God would take away what was given, we would rather store treasures of joy, kindness, generosity, compassion, and love which no thief can take away from us. We chose to be pinoy and stay foot in this country. We learn to smile at our hardship because we have a lot of hope and that hope that's founded in our faith.

With Faith in God, we try to solve those problems we can fix so it will not affect us next time. Those problems we can't solve ourselves, we bring them to God for a solution. This is the real reason why we are so resilient because we are God believers and followers, and His Son, Jesus, is our lives model.

God bless us all!!

Today's Gospel Reflection

Matthew 14:22-36

Our Gospel reading today touches on true faith. It is a choice that we must make every moment we encounter uncertainties in our life.

Most of the time, we turn to faith when we have no other choice or we have other option. Like when we are faced with a dying loved one and doctors have already given up hope. Then we call on God. But even as we call on Him, there is this DOUBT if He hears our plea.

In our Gospel reading today, we see the faith of Peter as he also walked on water to approach Jesus. At the last moment, his eyes turned away from Jesus' eyes and got distracted by the strong wind and waves caused by a storm. Once this connection was cut off, Peter started to sink because Peter could not sustain the connection.

Faith is not something we turn on and off anytime. It is like a Fountain of grace that flows from God's heart to our heart and to whoever we want this grace to flow. This is what makes us heal others.

True faith is powered by true unselfish love.

Do we feel that our faith flickers like a dying flashlight? Once it starts to flicker, we experience that same feeling of Peter as he slowly sink. If we don't reach out to God's help, we will continue to sink and lose faith until there's none left. We become Godless creatures like millions of individuals today in so many countries. Are you going to be counted among these Godless souls?

It is easy to lose our faith in God when trials and hardships abound and we could not see any sign of change for many weeks. Gone are those days where we could focus constantly doing a task to earn a living and hoping one day our children would finish their studies and become better earners than us. So many young people today could not spread their wings and still depend on their parent's help. Faith was not passed on successfully and grace stop flowing down to their children.

How can we not falter in our small faith in God? I myself can't be so sure of my answer as I have faltered so many times in my faith in my past so many years.

But this one thing I'm sure of in order to keep our faith alive.

First, don't ever give up asking God's forgiveness if you feel weak in faith.
Second, after failing, pray heartily to God and ask Him not to let you sink and drown.
Third, acknowledge your weak faith and pray that the Holy Spirit gives you the grace you need to START OVER, FOCUS, and BE CONSISTENT in hope.

Also, try examining your moves or plan. You might have chosen the wrong strategy to reach your target. Open yourself always to all opportunities you encounter and research on it fully and be at least prudent lest you waste your limited resources. Pray daily so the Holy Spirit shows you if you are on the right path.

God save us.
