POPE LEO XIV APPOINTS BISHOP JUNIE AS MEMBER OF VATICAN DICASTERY FOR COMMUNICATIONS

Pope Leo XIV appoints Bishop Marcelino Antonio Maralit, Jr., as a member of the Vatican Dicastery for Communications, which oversees the Catholic Church’s presence in the field of communications media. He will be joining another Filipino—Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle—who has also gained prominence through his presence in the media, especially through The Word Exposed.

Bishop Maralit formerly served as Chairperson of the Commission on Social Communications of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines. Currently, he serves as Chairperson of the Social Communications Department of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences.

“THE GOOD ERMITANEWS” REBRANDS TO “TGEN”; SET TO BECOME A DAILY PROGRAM

Starting Easter Sunday, the online evangelization program “The Good ErmitaNews” is set to produce daily Gospel reflections, expanding from its original weekly Sunday schedule.

The Diocesan Commission on Social Communications (DCSC) launched Season 2 of “The Good ErmitaNews” on Tuesday with a video teaser shown during the Chrism Mass. Highlighted in the video were not only Bishop Maralit but also several priests who will now deliver the reflections from Monday to Saturday. The program has also been rebranded as “TGEN,” an acronym for its original title.

The DCSC aims to contribute to the evangelization of the online world through TGEN and other initiatives. Through collaboration with parish SOCCOMs and, hopefully, with other Church organizations, the DCSC hopes to bring more people closer to God and to the Church.
