JULY 11 | MEMORIAL OF ST. BENEDICT,
Abbot

Benedict, + 547, was born into a distinguished family in central Italy, studied at Rome, and early in life was drawn to monasticism. He wrote the famous monastic Rule noted for its wisdom and moderation, founded 12 monasteries including Monte Cassino; considered the "Patriarch of Western Monasticism". He is the patron of Europe, Kidney Disease, Monks, Poisoning and School children.

PRAYER:
O God, who made the Abbot Saint Benedict an outstanding master in the school of divine service, grant, we pray, that, putting nothing before love of you, we may hasten with a loving heart in the way of your commands. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

JUNE 27 | Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Help

Also known as Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, is celebrated on June 27 by the universal Church.

The devotion to this Marian advocation revolves around the picture of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, painted on wood, with background of gold. It is Byzantine in style and is supposed to have been painted in the thirteenth century. It represents the Mother of God holding the Divine Child while the Archangels Michael and Gabriel presenting Him the instruments of His Passion. Over the figures in the picture are some Greek letters which form the abbreviated words Mother of God, Jesus Christ, Archangel Michael, and Archangel Gabriel respectively.

MAY 24 | PENTECOST SUNDAY

Happy Birthday to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church!
Happy birthday to all of us, brothers and sisters in Christ!

Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus gathered in the Upper Room (Acts 2:1–13). A strong wind filled the room, and tongues of fire rested upon them, giving them the courage and grace to proclaim the Gospel in different languages.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter preached his first homily, calling people to repentance and baptism. About 3,000 people embraced the faith that day.

For this reason, Pentecost is known as the birthday of the Church — the moment the apostles were empowered and sent forth to share the Gospel with the world.

WHAT: DIOCESAN PRAYER VIGILS FOR WORLD PEACE ON APRIL 11, 2026

Dear Reverend Fathers, Religious, and Beloved Faithful, Grace and peace in our Risen Lord Jesus Christ!

In response to the recent call of our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, as conveyed through the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), I am directing that all parishes, chaplaincies, and ecclesial communities within the Diocese of Tandag organize and conduct prayer vigils for world peace on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at a time most suitable for your local communities.

The Holy Father, in his Easter Urbi et Orbi message, has invited the entire Church to unite in prayer amid the growing realities of conflict and the "globalization of indifference". This moment calls us, as one Church, to implore from the Lord the precious gift of peace and to renew our commitment to dialogue, reconciliation, and nonviolence.

In obedience and communion with the Holy Father and in solidarity with the universal Church, I ask that each parish ensure the meaningful observance of this prayer initiative. The vigil may take the form of:
Eucharistic Adoration The Holy Rosary The Celebration of the Holy Mass for Peace Other appropriate liturgical or devotional gatherings

Please encourage the active participation of the faithful, parish organizations, and families so that this may truly become a diocesan expression of unity in prayer.

Let this collective act of faith be our witness that true peace begins in Christ and must first dwell in our hearts before it can transform the world.

I entrust this initiative to your pastoral zeal and cooperation. Let us respond generously to this urgent call to prayer.

April 12, 2026 | DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

When Jesus first appeared to his disciples, he gave them his presence, peace, mission, and the Holy Spirit—strengthening their faith, renewing their joy, and empowering them against sin and discouragement.

These gifts are not only for them, but for us today, if we open our hearts and proclaim with Thomas the Apostle, “My Lord and my God!”

On this feast of Divine Mercy, we remember Christ’s boundless love for sinners. We all need his forgiveness—and we are all called to share his mercy with others.
