As the month of May drew to a close, our community gathered once again in faith, devotion, and unity for the solemn procession of Sta. Cruzan 2026. Held at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Mission Church, the event marked the culmination of Flores de Mayo - a cherished tradition where flowers, prayers, and hymns are offered in honor of the Holy Cross.
This yearโs celebration was made more meaningful with the presence of Reyna Elena, the highest and most revered sagala of the procession. She embodied Saint Helena of Constantinople, mother of Emperor Constantine the Great. In 327 A.D., Saint Helena undertook a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and, according to Christian tradition, discovered the True Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. Her unwavering faith and perseverance turned loss into hope, and suffering into redemption.
As Reyna Elena, adorned in royal regalia and carrying the Holy Cross, she serves as a living reminder that faith pursued with humility and sacrifice will always lead to grace. Her role is not merely ceremonial - it is a proclamation of the central mystery of our faith: that through the Cross, we find salvation.
To the sagalas, escorts, choir, sponsors, organizers and every devotee who offered flowers and prayers: thank you for keeping this tradition alive. Your participation ensures that the story of the Cross continues to be told, generation after generation.
