MINI BEBIEES CARE GROUP
Topic: 📖 Cell Group Study: The Blueprint of Character
Theme: Becoming a Man of Jesus
Primary Text: 1 Timothy 4:12
📜 The Scripture Engagement
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” — 1 Timothy 4:12
Context Note: Paul was writing to Timothy, a young leader who likely felt intimidated by older, more "experienced" men. Paul’s advice wasn't to "act older," but to "live deeper."
💬 Discussion Points
1. The Pillar of Speech (What we say)
The Verse says: "In speech..."
Discussion: James 3 tells us the tongue is like a rudder that steers a whole ship. As men, how does our speech (sarcasm, gossip, "locker room talk," or even silent passivity) steer the reputation of our character?
Real Talk: Think about your last three text messages or social media comments. Did they build up or tear down?
2. The Pillar of Conduct (What we do)
The Verse says: "...in conduct..."
Discussion: Conduct is "faith with its work boots on." It’s our lifestyle when the Sunday service ends.
Real Talk: Where is the biggest gap between what you say you believe and how you actually act (e.g., at work, with your family, or when you are alone)?
3. The Pillar of Love (Why we do it)
The Verse says: "...in love..."
Discussion: Character without love is just "legalism" or "being a nice guy." Biblical manhood is defined by sacrificial love (Agape).
Real Talk: Who is the hardest person in your life to love right now? How would treating them with Christ-like character change that relationship?
4. The Pillar of Faith (Who we trust)
The Verse says: "...in faith..."
Discussion: This refers to both our belief and our faithfulness. A man of character is consistent and dependable because his trust is in God, not in his own circumstances.
Real Talk: When things go wrong, do you lean on your own understanding or do you stand firm in your faith? How can we help each other stay "faithful" when life gets heavy?
5. The Pillar of Purity (How we see)
The Verse says: "...and in purity."
Discussion: Purity isn't just about avoiding "bad things"; it's about having an undivided heart. It’s the integrity of our private thoughts and intentions.
Real Talk: In a world designed to distract and tempt us, what "fences" or boundaries have you built to protect your purity of heart and mind?
🏁 Conclusion & Prayer
Character isn't built in a vacuum; it’s built in community. Paul didn't just tell Timothy to be better; he wrote him a letter to coach him. As a cell group, we are each other's "Paul." We don't strive for character to look good—we do it to point others to the One who created us.
