Ocean Sky Chan Monastery 海天禪寺居士林 A Zen Center for all to discover the joy of meditation, to learn the ageless wisdom of Buddhism, and uncover the mind's true nature.

Ocean Sky Chan Monastery (海天禪寺) is a Buddhist temple, and an overseas Zen Center branch of Chung Tai Chan Monastery of Taiwan, located in the heart of Metro Manila, in San Juan City, and conveniently close to districts of Greenhills and Ortigas, and just next to Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, and Quezon City. The monastery doors are open to everyone who wants to visit, or learn more about Chan (Japa

nese: Zen), meditation and mindfulness, or to attend the regular Buddhist ceremonies held in the temple. The resident Dharma Masters hold free weeknights and weekend meditation classes. Classes for beginners are open to everyone, while intermediate, and advanced meditation classes are only open to those who has completed Beginners' class. Classes in Mandarin language, and Sutra Studies are also available.

On the afternoon of May 10th, from 1:30 to 5:30 PM, Ocean Sky held a half-day meditation retreat to help students calm their "monkey minds" and thus reconnect with their true mind. The Abbess’s Dharma Talk focused on how to detect and dismantle the false self, allowing practitioners to remain in the present mind without attachment. Although the practice is challenging, everyone drew closer to their buddha-nature, departing with a profound sense of Dharma-joy!
