Who could understand a hardship better than someone who has already lived through it? The saints were no strangers to suffering: they, too, faced moments of sadness, loneliness, guilt, and anxiety, and found in God the strength to keep moving forward.

The Instagram account Un Católico Bien reminded followers that, in difficult times, there is nothing like being heard “by a friend who has lived through the same thing you are going through today.”

“The saints are those friends who have felt the way you feel, and they are there to listen to you and intercede for you,” the account said.

If you are going through a difficult moment, perhaps you can relate to one of these four saints: https://www.churchpop.com/are-you-going-through-a-difficult-time-these-saints-can-help-you/

Prayer for Healing and Courage

Merciful God,

In this moment of sorrow and fear,
we place into Your loving hands
all those affected by this tragedy.
Welcome into Your eternal embrace those who have died.
Heal the wounded, comfort those who grieve,
and strengthen all who carry the pain of this moment.

Lord Jesus, You are our Light in the darkness.
When fear overwhelms us, give us courage.
When sorrow weighs upon us, give us hope.
When violence wounds us,
make us instruments of Your peace.

Bless our Ateneo community with healing, unity, and compassion.
May we stand together, care for one another, and never allow darkness to overcome the light of Christ within us.

Through Mary, Mother of Sorrows and Mother of Hope, lead us closer to Your peace.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.

St. Teresa of Avila reminds us of courage, especially in these difficult times.

We extend our hearts and prayers to the families and souls of those who lost their lives in the tragedy in Ateneo de Zamboanga.

LEARNING BEGINS AT HOME 🏠

In times when our communities are confronted by violence and tragedy involving the young, we are reminded that education does not begin only in the classroom. The home is the first school of life, where values are formed, faith is nurtured, and compassion is learned.

Parents, guardians, families, educators, and communities all share the responsibility of guiding the next generation. Alongside academic learning, our youth must also encounter love, understanding, discipline, and hope within their homes and communities.

As Sacred Scripture reminds us:

“Train the young in the way they should go; even when old, they will not swerve from it.” —Proverbs 22:6

Let us pray for our youth. Let us also foster them with love, understanding, and care, so that our homes may become places where faith, character, and respect for life are first learned.
