The Feast of the Holy Family honors Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as a model for Christian family life, celebrated on the Sunday after Christmas. The devotion began in the 17th century with Saint François de Laval and was officially established in 1893 by Pope Leo XIII. Pope Benedict XV extended it to the entire Church in 1921. Originally observed after Epiphany, it was moved in 1969 to the Sunday after Christmas to align with the season.

This feast reminds families to keep God at the center of their lives. It is marked by special prayers and readings during Mass, encouraging families to follow the example of the Holy Family in love and sacrifice. The Holy Family is both a model of holiness and a source of inspiration for all families, emphasizing the importance of faith and unity at home.

Let us pray that the Holy Family may guide and inspire us as we build our Christian homes.
