When we talk about the Scripture, we are talking about the Holy Bible, which is Godโs message and not just any book. It is like a letter from a loving Father to His children, guiding us on how to live, love, and believe.
The Scripture is not merely old stories from long ago. It is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12), always speaking truth that helps us even today. It teaches us what is right, corrects us when we are wrong, and reminds us of the hope we have in Jesus (2 Timothy 3:16โ17). For us, Scripture is the final authorityโnot the traditions of men, not opinions, and not even feelings. Everything we believe and do must be tested through it.
God speaks through Scripture by the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit who helps us understand what we read and apply it to our lives. This is why reading the Bible is not only an intellectual activity but also a spiritual one. You do not need to be a pastor or a scholar to understand it. All you need is a heart that is willing to listen.
And when that heart begins to listen, something changes. Scripture no longer feels like just mere words on a page, it now becomes a familiar voice. Jesus said, โMy sheep hear my voiceโ (John 10:27), and His voice is clearly heard through His Word. The more you read, the more you recognize His voice, and the more you know who you really areโnot who the world says you are, but who God says you are.
Yet, and sadly, many people, even those who go to Church, treat the Bible like a decoration that is present but untouched. But Scripture is not for display, it is for transformation. When you open it, you do not just read stories. Instead, God reads your heart.
Maybe you are tired, guilty, or confused about your life. The Bible will not shame you. Instead, it invites you to come home. To the backslider, Scripture is not a voice of condemnation but of welcome: โReturn to me, for I have redeemed youโ (Isaiah 44:22). It reminds us that the God who wrote these words also wrote your name on His hands (Isaiah 49:16).
In your personal struggles, the Scripture becomes your compass. It tells you you are not alone, not forgotten, and never too far gone. And as we walk together as a Church, Scripture unites us in truth, grounds us in love, and equips us to live boldly for Christ. So open your Bible. Not just with your eyes, but with your heart. And let the God of Scripture speak life into your soul.
