His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

JABEZ ACCELERATED CHRISTIAN ACADEMY
HISTORICAL NARRATIVE
FOUNDATION
June 1997, a school operating under the umbrella of The School of Tomorrow was opened using the ACE curriculum. But in July the man, responsible for its operation ran away and left the school and the children’s education hanging in the balance. To make matters worse the school he left was heavily indebted. That man was the chairman of the school board. The fate of the institution was now in the brink of disaster after a month of its conception. It was a terrible blow for the school board composed of young inexperienced members. The only option left is to close the school and face the wrath of the children’s parents or continue the operation with nothing left at hand only faith in their Creator. They choose the latter. They decided to continue the operation till the end of the school year then close it afterwards. But much to their surprise the operation continued for the following years despite the hardships endured by the faculty caused by blatant criticism. During those years the only thing that matter was to clear up everything that was left behind especially the debts acquired by the man who started it all and ran away. It was in those years, after much prayer and supplication the institution was named Jabez Accelerated Christian Academy. Jabez was a biblical character in the book of I Chronicles 4:9-10. The name Jabez literally means “to be born in pain”. Though born in pain, Jabez remained more honorable from the rest of his brothers. He prayed, persevered and despite of the pain, overcame and enlarged his territory. From that time on, the character of Jabez will be the guiding principle in the operation of this institution. Like Jabez, pain and hardship should not be looked as hindrances but opportunities to build up your faith in God so as to overcome. THE VISION
In 2000 they were required by the Department of Education adapt the BEC curriculum and discard ACE (Accelerated Christian Education.) They willingly complied yet retained the name Jabez Accelerated Christian Academy. In the following years, it is becoming more evident what God wants to accomplish through this humble institution. The volume of children entering school every year can not be accommodated by the public schools. Often, the poor and underprivileged children are the most neglected in the system called education. Somebody had to do something. Thus the vision to care for these children was born. From that time on, reaching out to these poor underprivileged children will be the goal of the institution. These children were the ones hurting the most as in the case of Jabez who was “born in pain.” Someone was to take care of them. Giving relevant and quality education was now geared toward these children. Though operating in the umbrella of private school, children from public school who can not afford to pay private education will be the clients. In other words, Jabez Accelerated Christian Academy will be the public school among the private schools. For most of them it will be given free of charge. THE PEOPLE BEHIND
Serving others unselfishly is not a familiar and accepted vocation of our culture. Often, personal comfort and prosperity are the driving factors for most people. Looking for people who will love and serve the unlovable is only epic and mythical. Yet, by the grace of God, one by one they came along. The faculty is composed of volunteer professionals including teachers, accountants, engineers, IT experts, nurses, social workers and skilled workers converged together for one very special purpose, the education of poor and underprivileged children. Some of them are former pupils who are now professionals and decided to lend a hand for the institution that cared for them. These people have dedicated their lives in the education of these children for more than ten years without the prospect of getting anything in return. The only benefit of the workers in return for their service was free lunch, transportation allowance and free education for their children and the hope that by so doing will contribute to the building of the nation. Also, behind this work are committed people who prayed and give sacrificially and regularly. They believed that by so doing will store for themselves treasures in heaven. For life is just a passing shadow. THE COMMITMENT
Since its foundation and registration at the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2000, countless numbers of poor underprivileged children were ministered. Those pupils came from single parent homes, some are abused children, neglected children and children of inmates from the city jail. Some of them are now in high schools, colleges and some of them are doing professional works and some of them are assisting missionary work in neighboring provinces like Nueva Vizcaya and Aurora province. It was such a reward for the faculty and staff to see these children lives changed dramatically as the fruit of their tireless effort. It is truly a reward beyond comparison. Also, scores of parents are assisted and counseled. For more than ten years the commitment of the institution is greater than ever. In 2006, the pre-elementary course was recognized by the Department of Education but sadly their application for the recognition for the elementary course was not granted to this day. For years, the commitment of the faculty and staff are unwavering. They are looking forward unto educating more and more underprivileged kids in the years to come as the Lord provided the resources and strength needed. For this reason they are still looking forward on the time that the effort, dedication and selfless commitment of the people behind this humble institution will soon be recognized so that they can continue their part in nation building.
