Today is the Feast Day of St. Maria Goretti

July 6 — We honor the Patron Saint of Purity, Forgiveness, Young Girls, and Victims of Assault and Violence.

A special First Friday Mass was held last July 4 at Hinulid Chapel in honor of her feast day.

May her unwavering faith, courage, and example of forgiveness continue to inspire and guide us. 💐

We invite you to a solemn and blessed occasion this Friday as we celebrate the installation of the relic of St. Maria Goretti on our chapel’s altar. A Holy Mass will be offered in her honor, and we encourage everyone to come and witness this moment of grace.

What is a relic?
A relic is a physical object—such as a piece of a saint’s body, clothing, or something they used—that serves as a tangible connection to their holy life. The veneration of relics reminds us of their faith, virtues, and intercession.

Who is St. Maria Goretti?
✨ Born in 1890, she is one of the youngest saints in the Catholic Church.
✨ Known as the Martyr of Purity, she forgave her attacker before passing away at just 11 years old.
✨ She was canonized in 1950 by Pope Pius XII, with her mother present—making it the first time a saint’s parent attended their child’s canonization.
✨ Feast day: July 6 - A day to honor her life, faith & sacrifice.

Her virtues inspire us:
🌿 Purity – She remained steadfast in her commitment to holiness.
🌿 Forgiveness – Even in suffering, she forgave her attacker and prayed for his soul.
🌿 Faith – She trusted in God’s love and mercy until her final breath.

As we welcome her relic, may we be inspired by her unwavering faith and seek her intercession in our daily lives.
