You always hear in every churches that we need to win, to go, and to make disciples. But in every task or mission, there is always a reason behind it.
Why do we GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES?
1. IT IS AN AUTHORITATIVE COMMAND OF JESUS.
Matthew 28:18-19 NIV
[18] Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...
- An authoritative command is official order from someone with authority.
- It is not a request but a command that expects obedience.
1.1 WE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT OUR LORD SAYS.
Luke 6:46 NIV
[46] “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
1.2 WE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES BECAUSE OF OUR REVERENCE TO JESUS AUTHORITY.
Philippians 2:9-11 NIV
[9] Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
2. IT IS AN EXPRESSION OF OUR GRATEFULNESS TO GOD.
Matthew 16:26 NIV
[26] What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
- To go and make disciples is the least we can do compare with what we already received from Jesus.
- He died for us while we were still sinners.
- Winning others and discipling them might be the least we can do here on Earth, but it is still the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
3. BECAUSE FRUITFULNESS IN GOD'S KINGDOM IS IN OUR DNA.
1 Corinthians 15:10
[10] But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
- We are naturally soul winners when we understand that we serve a supernatural God.
- We are called to multiply and bear much fruit, and it is the kind of fruit that will last!
