THE STO CRISTO WARD "HEAR HIM" DEVOTIONAL
Date: June 28, 2020
Assigned Speaker:Juan Miguel Saliva
Love thy neighbor as thy selves
I remember the day when Kuya Marinel texted me and asked me to be the speaker this coming devotional. Luckily, as far as I remember, My 2nd talk is all about this too and I related it to service. Now I was thinking what principle in the Gospel is related to this topic. While wondering,I remember a story about a couple. Unfortunately, the man has an uncurable disease in his eyes and it might lead to blindness as time goes by. Suddenly, the man spoke, "I can't tell WHAT you look like. But I know HOW beautiful and lovely you are.". Now, we can relate it to faith. Sometimes having faith in Him and also in His children, is also a way of showing our love to them. If we have a friend or a relative that has the disease, tell them that you have faith in them and they can overcome it. I think that's enough to show your love to them during this pandemic. But sometimes, we're doubting to have faith in someone because we hate them. Remember the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Many people love Him, but also, there are people who hate him too. but despite of all those people did to him, He still chose to Atone for them, so that they may be able to an opportunity to
repent.
You know brothers and sisters. In this Mortal World, Change is constant. Because we have agency which we can choose for ourselves. But if we choose Him, which we already did, despite of all the change we might experience, He will remain constant.
I think that's enough to explain why we need to love our neighbor. Because Jesus Christ already set a great example for all of us. all we need to do is to constantly choose to be like Him.
To continue the story of the couple. Decades goes by, the man is already blind. While the woman doing something for his beloved man, the man asked the woman.
"do u know what loves do?" -hmm?- "love will make you feel what a naked eye can't see."
Brothers and sisters, we are not just sender of love, we're also receiver of love. Sometimes we appreciate things like gifts, surprises, anything that is tangible, edible or the things will make our eyes big. What we don't know is we always receive love, from our family, friends, and Also from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. By just staying by our sides and never leaves us whenever we need Them. Those are the things we must appreciate and cherish the most, the things that makes our life meaningful and worthwhile. If we know how to love ourselves, we know how to love others too. If we believe in our selves, we can believe to others too.
I testify that Heavenly Father gives us the opportunity to love, so let's not waste that great and eternal opportunity.
I know this things are true, and I leave this things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
