Structure of the text
v16-17 The appointment of the watchman
v18-21 God set forth the spiritual resposibilities of the watchman
v22-23 The glory of God
v24-27 The Spirit of God and the boundaries of the watchman’s role
God spiritually empowers His watchman.
-God’s hand was upon His watchman.
-His watchman seen God’s glory.
-God’s spirit entered to His watchman.
God regulates the words and deeds of his watchman
-God commanded His watchman to go and shut himself within his house.
-And you, O son of man, behold, cords will be placed upon you, and you shall be bound with them, so that you cannot go out among the people.
-God made his watchman mute and unable to reprove them for they are rebellious.
Application
-God wants you to warn the wicked from their wicked ways in order to save their lives
-God wants you to warn the righteous person not to turn from his righteousness to save his life
-God wants you to know that you have spiritual responsibilities that you need to faithfully fulfill.
-God will empower you to do a specific task
Theology of the text
-God is the God of Justice.
-God is the God of love.
-God is a sovereign God
