Psalm 24:1–10

BACKGROUND OF THE PASSAGE
Psalm 24 gives the idea of the holiness of God, particularly the Ark of the Covenant that only a qualified person will be able to carry.
This is also the event where the Ark of the Covenant is being transferred from the house of Obed-Edom to Jerusalem for the permanent place of worship (2 Samuel 6).
Chiastic Structure of the Text
A – God is the Maker of the earth (vv. 1–2)
B – God is holy and His requirements (vv. 3–4)
C – God is the means of all blessings (vv. 5–6)
B – God is worthy to be lifted up (vv. 7–8)
A – God is the Mighty King of glory (vv. 9–10)
1. GOD IS THE MAKER OF THE EARTH (vv. 1–2)
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof
The world and those who dwell therein
He founded it upon the seas
He established it upon the rivers
2. GOD IS THE MOST HOLY (vv. 3–4)
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
Who shall stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart
Does not lift up his soul to what is false
Does not swear deceitfully
3. GOD IS THE MEANS OF ALL THE BLESSINGS (vv. 5–6)
You will receive blessing from the Lord
You will receive righteousness from God of salvation
You will find approval from God
You will find the God of Jacob
4. GOD IS WORTHY TO BE LIFTED UP (vv. 7–8)
Lift up your heads
Lift up, O gates, ancient doors
Let the King of glory come in
He is mighty in battle

God is the owner of the earth
God is holy and requires holiness
God is the source of all blessings
God is worthy to be praised
God is the King of glory
CONCLUSION – THE GOD YOU WORSHIP
Owns everything in this world
Is holy and wants you to live for Him
Wants to bless you and your generation
Is your warrior, protector, and defender
Is the King of glory—let Him come into your life
