SCRIPTURE READING: Jeremiah 31:1-7 KJV

[1] At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people. [2] Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest. [3] The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. [4] Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. [5] Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. [6] For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God. [7] For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

SUNDAY SERVICE: MAKE CHRIST KNOWN (ROMANS 1:1-5) BY PTR. CARL GORMLEY

"Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last.”

A quote frequently attributed to David Livingstone but written by CT Studd, it echoes Psalm 68:5-6 as life unsurrendered to God is like lost in the wilderness. The purpose of our life is to share the Good News. In fact, we, not the angels, are separated and entrusted upon with the Great Commission. We share the Gospel in three premises—Christ died, buried, and rose again—like a tripod wherein our faith stood (1 Thess. 2:4).

We must serve Christ. (v. 2) If Jesus Christ is called to serve God the Father, we are also called to serve God. Our service must be done voluntarily and in love.

We must see our connection with God. Declare came from the Greek word horizō, from which the English word horizon came from, the line between the heaven and earth. In the same illustration, Jesus Christ, both fully Man and fully God, is our horizon, our connection between Heaven and Earth. (I Tim. 3:16; John 5:12) For what is the requirement to go to heaven? Being perfect. But alas, no one’s perfect, so only by imputed righteousness. (Rom. 8:17; Acts 17:30-31, Phil. 3:8-9)

Third, we must settle our commitment. Being an apostle does not only mean the office of the original 13 disciples of Jesus, but from its original Greek word apostolos, we are all “sent out” by Christ. The Gospel is our debt of love to men and God.

SCRIPTURE READING: Matthew 6:5-13 KJV

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

SUNDAY SERVICE: A PRAYER LIFE THAT MOVES GOD (JAMES 5:16-18) BY PTR. DENVER FLORECE

Prayer life is perhaps the most neglected private worship aspect of most Christians, despite our direct access to God.

Prayer has a spiritual power. It is very important that we know how to pray.

First, the effectual fervent, intense, wholehearted prayer. It has passion. (Ps. 55:17; Jer. 29:13, Matt. 6:5). The power of prayer comes from a powerful private worship life. Not rushed, not minimal, not hypocritical.

It keeps praying. Not just memorized. (Luke 18:1) We ought to pray because there is so many things to pray.

Second, the faithful prayer. (1 Kings 18:1; Matt. 6:11) It trusts God’s promise. Promises ought to motivate our faith, not make us entitled. It is not enough to know the promise, but for us to claim and desire for it. If our Bible reading is shallow, our prayer life is low. It also works vice-versa.

It waits on God. (Heb. 10:23) Faith is not just believing once, but continuing until prayers are answered. Let us wait on God, for God’s timing is always right. God’s delay is not denial. It is preparation.

It is a focused prayer. (1 Kings 18:42) It removes distractions. The best position of prayer is kneeling to show humility, consecration, and persistence. (1 Peter 5:6)

It seeks God’s glory. (John 14:13) The strongest prayers are not self-centered, but God-centered.

Our young people sang Worth It to our church today, the theme song of our youth camp.

Glad to have our young people enjoy the youth camp this year! It is truly worth it! đź’š
