Indeed, the cross does not come at a cheap price.
The Son of God bore the weight of the cross and the cost of obedience to the Father. In that moment, He stood in the place of sinners.
But today, I also reflected that the disciples experienced a kind of separation from Jesus.
Kaya pala ganoon karubdob ang prayer Niya bago ang crucifixion sa John 17.
John 17:9β15
βI pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your nameβ¦ While I was with them, I protected themβ¦ none has been lost except the one doomed to destructionβ¦ I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.β
Nawala ang kanilang pastol, ngunit may pangako. Jesus said, βI will not leave you as orphansβ (John 14:18). May daratingβmay pag-asa.
Ang crucial doon ay ang waiting time. After the crucifixion, Jesus conquered the grave. He rose again and later ascended. Then, about 50 days later at Pentecost (Acts 2), the Holy Spirit came and filled them.
That waiting season was not emptyβit was spiritual preparation. The promise of Jesus and the coming of the Advocate was what they held on to.
As disciples of Christ, we may also feel left out, uncertain, or abandoned at times. But everything has a divine purpose. He has sent the Holy Spirit as our Advocateβto empower us, guide us, and remind us of grace and truth.
Every breaking is for your calling;
Every sleepless night is for your clarity;
And every βNOβ is saying βYESβ to where God has destined you to be, and to who you will be in Christ Jesus.
Kapag malakas ang bagyo, kapit lang.
