IT IS A SACRIFICE🙏

✝️ STOP SAYING, "I AM GOING TO ATTEND MASS"

__________________
How often have we said it?

"I am going to attend Mass."

It sounds harmless.

And in ordinary conversation, everyone understands what we mean.

But strictly speaking, it does not capture the full reality of what happens at the altar.

Catholics do not merely attend Mass.

Catholics offer Mass.

And that difference matters.

✝️ MASS IS A SACRIFICE

From the beginning, worship has always involved sacrifice.

In the Old Testament:

Abel offered the firstlings of his flock.

Noah offered burnt offerings.

Abraham prepared to offer Isaac.

Israel offered lambs in the Temple.

Worship was never mere observation.

It was always offering.

And the Mass is the fulfillment of every Old Testament sacrifice.

At Mass, the one Sacrifice of Christ on Calvary is made sacramentally present.

✝️ THE PRIEST OFFERS, AND SO DO WE

The priest acts in persona Christi, in the person of Christ.

He stands at the altar as the visible minister.

But he does not offer alone.

The whole Church joins in the offering.

That is why the priest says:

"Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God..."

Notice carefully:

Not my sacrifice alone.

But my sacrifice and yours.

The Mass belongs to the entire Church.

✝️ WE ARE NOT SPECTATORS

At Mass, you are not an audience.

You are not watching a performance.

You are not attending a religious show.

You are participating in the greatest act of worship on earth.

You unite:

your prayers,

your sufferings,

your joys,

your sacrifices,

your entire life

with Christ's perfect offering to the Father.

That is why the Mass has infinite value.

✝️ THE LANGUAGE OF THE CHURCH

Traditionally, Catholics often spoke of "hearing Mass."

Today, many say "attending Mass."

Neither expression is wrong.

But neither fully expresses the richness of Catholic worship.

The deeper truth is this:

We go to Mass to offer the Holy Sacrifice.

That language reminds us of our active role.

✝️ WHAT DO YOU PLACE ON THE ALTAR?

Every Mass is an opportunity.

Bring something.

your family

your work

your struggles

your thanksgiving

your intentions

your tears

Place them spiritually upon the altar.

Christ will unite them to His own offering.

Nothing given to God at Mass is ever lost.

✝️ FINAL WORD

Do not go to Mass merely to "be there."

Go to worship.

Go to sacrifice.

Go to offer.

Because Calvary is made present.

And you are invited to unite yourself completely to Christ.

✝️ REMEMBER THIS ALWAYS

You are not just attending Mass.

You are offering the Holy Sacrifice with Christ, through the priest, to the Father.

That is why Catholics do far more than simply show up.

We offer.

✝️

The Parish of the Holy Infant would like to recognize and extend its deepest, most heartfelt gratitude to Sir Arthur Ortiz Jr. for his generous donation of 1,500 pesos for the Church project. In the spirit of the Holy Infant, who reminds us that even the smallest gestures of love carry immense weight, your contribution serves as a vital "building block" for our spiritual home and community. We are truly moved by your kindness and your willingness to invest in the future of our parish; it is through the selfless support of donors like you that our visions for the church are brought to life.

May the Sto. Niño bless you abundantly for your generosity, and may you find joy in knowing that your gift has left a lasting mark on our sacred space.

HERMANITO/ HERMANITA 2026

To the wonderful children who graced us as Hermanitos and Hermanitas this past January, the Parish of the Holy Infant gratefully acknowledges the "infant-ite" joy and devotion you brought to our celebration. Your participation was truly the heart of the feast, proving that one is never too small to make a big impact in honoring Sr. Sto. Niño de Buan. We also extend our warmest thanks to the parents and guardians for "nurturing" this faith and allowing your children to be part of such a sacred milestone. By letting them experience this tradition firsthand, you helped ensure our community’s devotion remains forever young and vibrant. Your commitment has made this feast truly unforgettable.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the Holy Infant with such "child-like" wonder and sincerity—Viva, Pit Señor!

In a world filled with the deafening noise of competing interests and "strangers" who promise fulfillment but leave us empty, the Gospel of John 10:1-10 serves as a profound reminder to sharpen our spiritual hearing. Jesus presents Himself not just as a protector, but as the intimate Shepherd who calls us by name, emphasizing that our relationship with Him is personal rather than transactional. When we feel lost or overwhelmed by the "thieves" of anxiety, comparison, or despair, forces that seek to steal our joy, we are invited to listen for that one familiar, steady voice that leads us to safety. To follow the Shepherd through the "Gate" is to move from a life of mere survival to a life of flourishing. This "abundant life" is not necessarily one free of challenges, but one lived with the absolute certainty that we are known, guided, and deeply loved. As we navigate our own valleys, we find peace in the truth that the Shepherd has already gone before us, clearing the path so that we may walk with confidence into the pastures of His grace..

Saint Mark’s life serves as a powerful testament to the beauty of resilience and the grace of second chances. Though he famously faltered early in his journey, departing from St. Paul during their first missionary trek, he did not allow a moment of perceived failure to define his legacy. Instead, Mark embraced a spirit of quiet persistence, eventually becoming a "profitable" companion to Paul and a devoted "son" to St. Peter. In capturing the Gospel with a sense of urgency and directness, Mark reminds us that our past stumbles are merely the soil in which a more robust faith can grow. His life invites us to recognize that we don’t need to be perfect from the start to be instrumental in a divine plan; we only need the humility to return, the courage to listen, and the heart to run the race until the very end.

On this Third Sunday of Easter, we journey alongside the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, a path many of us walk when life feels heavy with disappointment or unfulfilled expectations. Like them, we often become so focused on our "shattered tombs" and lost hopes that we fail to recognize the Divine walking right beside us in our grief. Luke 24:13-35 reminds us that faith is not a solo sprint but a persistent conversation; Jesus meets us exactly where we are, in our confusion and our "downcast" expressions—not to scold us for our lack of understanding, but to reframe our narrative through the lens of Scripture.

The turning point of this encounter happens not in a grand spectacle, but in the radical hospitality of a shared meal. It is in the "breaking of the bread" that their eyes are opened, transforming a cold evening of despair into a moment where their hearts "burn within them." This is the core of the Easter message: Christ is most visible in the ordinary acts of communion and the vulnerability of opening our homes and hearts to the stranger. We are challenged today to look past our own "Emmaus roads" and recognize that every ending we mourn is merely the prelude to a new way of seeing. When we allow the Word to stir our hearts and the Eucharist to nourish our souls, we find the strength to run back to our communities, no longer burdened by shadows, but set ablaze by the reality of the Resurrection.

On the Second Sunday of Easter, also known as Divine Mercy Sunday, we find the disciples huddling behind locked doors, paralyzed by fear and failure. They had abandoned Jesus in His darkest hour, and now they sat in the silence of their own shame. Yet, the first words of the Risen Christ are not words of rebuke, but a double blessing: "Peace be with you." This is the heart of Divine Mercy, it is a love that does not wait for us to be "worthy" or for the doors of our hearts to be fully open. It is a love that breathes through the cracks of our brokenness to bring us peace.

The story of "Doubting Thomas" further reveals the depths of this mercy. Jesus does not dismiss Thomas for his skepticism; instead, He invites him to touch His wounds. This shows us that God’s mercy is not an abstract concept, but a tangible encounter with a God who kept His scars to prove He understands our pain. Today, we are reminded that no sin is greater than God’s capacity to forgive, and no doubt is too deep for His light to reach. Like Thomas, we are called to move from the isolation of our fears to the bold confession of faith: "My Lord and my God!"

THIRD PART: THE BAPTISMAL LITURGY

This is where the Church welcomes new members.

The Litany of the Saints: The community asks for the intercession of the saints.

Blessing of Water: The priest blesses the baptismal water, often by dipping the Paschal Candle into it.

Sacraments of Initiation: Catechumens (those joining the Church) are baptized and confirmed.

Renewal of Baptismal Promises: All the faithful stand to renounce sin and profess their faith, usually followed by being sprinkled with the newly blessed water.

SECOND PART: THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

During this part, the Church meditates on all the wonderful things God has done for His people from the beginning.

There are seven Old Testament readings (though some may be omitted for time, at least three must be read).

These readings trace the history of salvation, from the Creation and the Exodus through the prophecies of the prophets.

This culminates in the singing of the Gloria (accompanied by bells) and the Alleluia, followed by the Gospel account of the Resurrection.
