Look with wonder at the depth of the Father’s marvelous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children.

DAILY BREAD
The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear. —Isaiah 2:17-18

DAY THOUGHT
Sometimes when we get "too big for our britches," we find ourselves humbled by a natural disaster, world war, incurable disease, economic depression, or widespread social disorder. Our arrogance can be a predictor of our own impending disasters. Is there a general principle of our universe at work here? ("Pride goes before a fall.") Or is this the active discipline of God at work? I guess the answer is "Yes!" to both of these questions. Both God and his world remind us that there is so much about our lives we can't control. This passage, however, goes beyond the general principles and it promises an ultimate day when human arrogance will be eliminated and all false gods disappear. On that day, God's children will rejoice and be glad! Until then, let's walk humbly with our God.

PRAYER
Dear Father in heaven, please humble me today and always. Deliver me from self that I may not loose your presence. Give me an undivided heart of devotion to you out of appreciation for your grace. In the name of the Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.

CALL US INTO LIFE OH GOD

CALL US INTO LIFE OH GOD

One can't really get the full import of the word "LOVE''. This is because we can't equally get the full import of the personality called "GOD".
This is only true because GOD = LOVE(1John 4:8)

Just as you can't understand all of God, you can't understand all of Love. But in the days of His power, sons are "BROUGHT" into the realities of LOVE which is God.

TOPIC: HEAVENLY HELPER

TEXT: "My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth" (Psalm 121 :2).

Man can help you from time to time but not all the time. God is your most dependable helper. David in Psalm 121: 2 acknowledged this heavenly helper. We recall the biblical account of a boy in the parable of 'The prodigal son (Luke 15:1-23). He compelled his father to prematurely give him the portion of his inheritance. Thereafter, he travelled to a far country, away from the watchful eyes of his parents, and in no time, squandered all his substance. He became a destitute and greatly in need of even food. He sought help from a rich man of that country, but received none. He humbly returned home, confessed his sins and received pardon and restoration from God and his father.

As a Christian youth, who has been your helper? Have you always received help from him/her each time you requested for help? No human helper is an alternative to God. God is the ultimate supplier of all you need; be it academic, physical, social, emotional or spiritual. Trust Him with all your heart, and seek Him always for "grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16).

CHALLENGE: Human help is limited.

PRAYER: Lord, help me to depend on you always.

Playing to an Audience
of One

“For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, because You favored them.” (Psalm 44:3, NKJV)

The world elevates people whom it proclaims are self-made individuals. Many of these people bask in the glory given to them by the world.

But in reality, all life is sourced by God. In the verse from Psalm 44:3, the Lord made it perfectly clear that possession did not come by their own sword or by their own arm. The possession of the land was brought about by the right hand of the Lord, his arm, and the light of his countenance. He favored them!

In the same manner, believers are not self-sufficient people who can claim any of our “successes” as being of our own making. Any glory should go only to God.

This principle is proclaimed throughout Scripture. The blessing of the Lord is responsible for what we have. The Lord has given people who have wealth the power to gain such wealth. In fact, we are warned not to forget the Lord when things seem to be going right. It is only by the Lord’s provision that we can enjoy life in this world.

If the Lord blesses us in our endeavors for him, we must be careful to make sure that any glory goes to him and not to us. We should play to one audience, and that is God himself.

The only words I want to hear someday are, “Well done, faithful servant. Now enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Today, ask yourself:
Am I making sure that any accomplishment is sourced in God alone, and that it is by his provision and favor I have been able to experience it?

PRAYING:
HOLD MY RIGHT HAND OF LORD AND SHATTER THE AGENDA OF THE ENEMY OVER MY LIFE. IN THE NAME OF JESUS. AMEN.
