ECCE HOMO | Today marked the first day of the novena in honor of the Finding of the “Ecce Homo.” Augustinian friars were joined by the Daughters of Saint Teresa and the devotees of the Ecce Homo in Greenhills, San Fernando.

The community officially opened the celebration with a procession that began at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Chaplaincy in Barangay Sangat. The procession made a brief stop at the Teofilo Camomot Memorial Monument before making its way back to the Ecce Homo Chapel.

Following the procession, tokens were presented to the Steward of the Day. The celebration continued with the Holy Mass, presided over by the Prior of the Basilica community, Rev. Fr. Danilo M. Carido, OSA.

Before the homily, the Hermano and Hermana Mayor were officially appointed and presented with their medallions. This was followed by the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to the outgoing Hermano and Hermana Mayor in recognition of their service and dedication to the community.

In his homily, Fr. Carido encouraged the faithful to honor and approach God with a childlike heart—one that is completely dependent on Him, grounded in humility, and filled with trust. He reminded us that, like Jesus, we are called to remain faithful and true to our faith, placing our complete trust in God, just as Jesus placed His trust in the Father.

As we begin this novena in honor of the Ecce Homo, may we continue to walk together in faith, humility, and devotion, trusting wholeheartedly in the One who calls us to follow Him.
