โ€œ๐‘บ๐’‚๐’๐’‚ ๐’‚๐’๐’!โ€

We hear it all the time.

Someone gets the job weโ€™ve been praying forโ€”โ€œSana all!โ€
Someone buys their dream houseโ€”โ€œSana all!โ€
Someone gets married, travels somewhere beautiful, receives an answered prayer, or finally gets the breakthrough theyโ€™ve been waiting forโ€”โ€œSana all!โ€

Sometimes we say it jokingly. Sometimes we say it because we genuinely wish we had what they have.

But what if, beneath that simple phrase, there is a deeper question our hearts need to ask:

What if the breakthrough, the answer, the open door, or the blessing weโ€™re chasing pales in comparison to the One who holds every single one of them?

What if the greatest gain isnโ€™t anything weโ€™ve been asking forโ€”but Jesus Himself?

We live in a world that screams one lie on repeat: More = better. More money, more likes, more followers, bigger houses, better jobs, a โ€œperfectโ€ life. And nowhere does that lie sound louder than inside our phones.

You open your phone just to relaxโ€”and suddenly your chest feels tight. There it is: someoneโ€™s dream home, their promotion, their happy family, their answered prayer. And that quiet voice creeps in:

Comparison doesnโ€™t just steal your joy. It steals your focus. It turns your eyes away from the God who has already given you so much and fixes them on what you think youโ€™re missing.

Just recently, a famous influencer went viral after offering hundreds of brand-new iPhones for freeโ€”but there was a catch: you had to like and follow an online gambling site to qualify. How many of us would take the bait? How many would join right in, even silently begging God to let us be chosen?

Thereโ€™s nothing wrong with praying for blessings. Thereโ€™s nothing wrong with hoping, waiting, or celebrating when God moves. But there is a quiet and dangerous trap we can easily fall into: loving the gift more than the Giver, craving the blessing more than His presence.

We pray for a job, begging God to open the doorโ€”and when He does, we become too busy working to spend time with Him.

We plead for provision, crying out for daily breadโ€”and once it starts flowing, we forget the Hand that fed us.

We beg for healingโ€”and when we feel better, we go back to living as though we never needed Him.

Sometimes we become so focused on the blessing weโ€™re waiting for that we barely notice the Blessor who gives it. And when the answer finally comes, we can become so consumed by what we received that we forget to turn back and thank the One who gave it.

You beg for the breakthroughโ€”but do you still want Jesus if it never comes?
You long for your prayers to be answeredโ€”but do you desire the One who hears every word?
You dream of the Promised Landโ€”but would you be content with Him even if you never step foot in it?
And when He does answer, will you love Him more because of the blessingโ€”or will you love the blessing more than Him?

The Israelites knew this struggle well. God rescued them from slavery, parted the Red Sea, fed them manna, and guided them with a cloud by day and fire by night. Yet again and again, they forgot Him. When circumstances became difficult, they focused on what they lacked instead of remembering who was with them.

But Moses understood something they often forgot. He stood before God and said:

Moses knew that the Promised Land is empty without Godโ€™s presence.
A job without His presence is just endless work. Provision without His peace is never enough. Success without Him can still leave your heart empty.

You can receive the blessing you prayed for and still feel hollow.

You can land the job you begged for and become too busy to enjoy the Giver.

You can reach the top of the mountain youโ€™ve been climbing for years and still find yourself asking, โ€œ๐ผ๐‘  ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘  ๐‘Ž๐‘™๐‘™?โ€

Jesus asked the question that cuts straight through all our chasing:

The world says, โ€œ๐ถโ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘’ ๐‘š๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘’. ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘’. ๐บ๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž๐‘ ๐‘. โ€
Jesus says, โ€œ๐‘ช๐’๐’Ž๐’† ๐’‡๐’Š๐’๐’… โ€

Paul understood this. He had the status, the resume, the respect, and the achievements others would have envied. But after encountering Christ, he counted them as loss because nothing could compare to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.

That is the heart of the gospel: Jesus is not merely the One who gives us good things. He is the greatest good Himself.

So when jealousy creeps in,
When someone elseโ€™s blessing makes you question Godโ€™s goodness, ๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค ๐ญ๐จ ๐‰๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ.
When the waiting feels too long and the silence feels too heavy,
And when the answer finally comesโ€”when the job opens, provision arrives, or healing comesโ€”๐ฅ๐จ๐จ๐ค ๐ญ๐จ ๐‰๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ž.

Hold the gift gently. But hold Him tighter.
Never let the blessing make you forget the Blessor. Never let the answer make you forget the Answerer.

Possessions break. Success fades. Applause goes quiet. Jobs change. Seasons shift. People leave. The things we say โ€œsana allโ€ about today will be forgotten tomorrow.

But Jesus never changes. He never leaves. He never fails. He never stops loving you.

The greatest gain isnโ€™t getting everything you ever wanted.
The greatest gain is knowing Jesus.

May we seek Him more than His gifts. May we crave His presence more than His promises. May we remember Him before the answer comes, while we wait, and most of all when the blessing finally arrives.

And may our hearts learn to say with every breath:
