Yesterday, May 19, 2026, the COs of SACOP journeyed to Sagrada and Balibago in Masantol for another community feedbacking session.

They began the feedbacking in Sagrada, where the two PWU Social Work interns facilitated the presentation of data, which was well received by the citizens of Sagrada. Next, they headed to Balibago, where the PSU Social Work interns awaited them. The feedbacking, however, was moved to the covered court. It was originally supposed to be held inside the church, but it was unfortunately submerged in water just seconds before the feedbacking commenced.

Despite the sudden change of venue caused by the rising floodwaters, the activity continued successfully through the cooperation and resilience of both the facilitators and community members.

During his homily this morning in SACOP, Among Edgar talked about how God lays His plans for us and how it is okay when we do not conform to those plans. He further elaborated his point by sharing his own experience where he planned to take jobs in Manila, yet no one hired him even after a long time of job hunting. He started questioning himself and wondered if he really made the right decision, slowly doubting the plans he had for himself.

When he was finally called by a company, he realized that long before he even sent his résumé there, God was already working on the sidelines and was way ahead of him. After experiencing so much rejection, he discovered that the job was already meant for him even before he knew he wanted it.

It is really true that there are many things a man would want, but it is God’s will that will always prevail. Truly, rejection is God’s redirection.

Yesterday, May 14, 2026, the SACOP staff, together with the PWU and PSU Social Work interns, took the trip to Bulacus, Masantol for yet another community feedbacking.

To be able to reach the community, the group journeyed for at least 2 hours by road, followed by another 5-minute boat ride. Despite the long travel, the group remained determined to conduct the activity and meet with the citizens of the community. The feedbacking was held inside the community’s parish that was situated in the center of the place, where the residents gathered and actively participated during the discussion.

The feedbacking was presented by the PSU Social Work interns and was consensused by the citizens. The residents were able to share their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions regarding the presented data, making the activity more interactive and meaningful for both the facilitators and the community. Through the feedbacking, the activity became another opportunity to strengthen the connection between the community and the team while also identifying the needs and insights of the citizens.

The community organizers of SACOP, together with PWU Social Work interns, visited Haduan, one of SACOP’s assisted communities in Mabalacat City, to continue fostering collaboration and strengthen the organization’s relationship with the community.

After at least 30 minutes of a tumultuous trek, they finally reached the community for the community feedbacking activity. Despite the challenging journey, the visit became a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with the residents and listen to their experiences, concerns, and progress.

We support the CBCP’s appeal for a fair, impartial, and credible constitutional process guided not by political interests, but by evidence, integrity, and the common good.

As citizens and as people of faith, may we remain vigilant against misinformation and continue to uphold truth, justice, and respect for our democratic institutions.

As our House of Representatives comes to a vote today on the impeachment complaint against Vice-President Sara Duterte Carpio, we make this appeal to our duly elected representatives to perform one of their most important constitutional duties and responsibilities in a manner that would show their clear commitment to

• upholding the rule of law,
• restoring our faith in public service as a public trust and in our public institutions, and
• affirming transparency and accountability as valued principles in our society as a whole and in government service in particular.

Our people have expressed their desire and hope that the Vice-President should face the charges against her in the impeachment complaint. In a March 2026 survey , 69% of Filipinos support the impeachment process.

This is an expression of our people’s desire and hope that there be a credible mechanism and process to hold our public officials accountable. This must encourage us, especially you, our honorable Representatives vested with this duty and responsibility, to ensure a fair and credible vote.

Our fellow Filipinos see the trial not just to hold the Vice-President accountable, but also as a fair and just process to prove her innocence or guilt based on clear and credible evidence.

We pray that it will precisely be clear and credible evidence that will have greater weight over public opinion in today’s vote.

We make this prayer with and for you,

You have been told, O man, what is good,
and what the Lord requires of you:
Only to do justice and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6: 8)

May this day be remembered as a moment in the history of our House of Representatives when “to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God” guided and inspired our honorable Representatives in their vote on the impeachment of the Vice-President.

Last Friday, May 1, 2026, the SEAP scholars took part in their annual seminar presided over by Rev. Fr. Harrold G. Garcia. He reiterated that being a scholar is more than just receiving assistance— it is a mission and a responsibility. As scholars of SACOP, they were reminded that they are chosen, blessed, and sent. Chosen not only to succeed, but to become instruments of God for others. Blessed not to keep their blessings to themselves, but to share them and become a grace to other people. Sent to serve, because being a scholar also means becoming a servant of the Church and the community.

The journey of a scholar is never easy. There are pressures, expectations, financial struggles, discouragements, and moments of doubt. Sometimes, they question themselves if they can still continue, especially when they feel compared to others or when they carry the hopes of their family on their shoulders. But despite these struggles, they are reminded that God never gives up on them.

To continue their mission, they must hold onto the values that will sustain them: gratitude, responsibility, discipline, and compassion. Scholarship is not an entitlement, but a blessing with responsibility. True success is not measured by how high they rise, but by how many people they help uplift along the way.

As scholars, they are called to study well, pray constantly, and serve others, especially the poor. With faith and God’s guidance, may they continue their mission with humility, perseverance, and a heart willing to serve. Because when you truly know who you are, you also understand what you can offer and where you are called to share it.

Among Harrold ended his talk by giving three (3) commitments that every scholar must apply in their lives:

The Social Action Center of Pampanga joins Caritas Philippines in its statement calling on our honorable members of the House of Representatives to faithfully fulfill their constitutional duty with integrity, courage, and commitment to the common good.

As the House votes on the impeachment complaint against Vice-President Sara Duterte Carpio, the Church’s social action arm reminds our leaders and all Filipinos that public office is a public trust — one that must always be guided by truth, justice, accountability, and the rule of law.

The statement emphasizes that the impeachment process is not merely political. Rather, it is a constitutional and democratic mechanism meant to uphold transparency and ensure that public officials remain accountable to the people they serve. It also recognizes the people’s desire for a fair, credible, and evidence-based process where innocence or guilt is determined not by emotions or political interests, but by truth and due process.

Grounded in the words of the prophet Micah —
“Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8) —
Caritas Philippines calls on our nation’s leaders to allow conscience, justice, and moral responsibility to guide their decisions.
