When I was in Primary, other members would often ask me, โ€œAre you going to serve a mission when you get older?โ€ Without hesitation, I would always say yes. Even at a young age, I felt a simple but strong desire to serve the Lord and share His gospel with others. My faith as a child was pure and hopeful, and I believed that following Jesus Christ would always lead me in the right direction.

As I grew older and became a youth, life began to test that faith. Things didnโ€™t always go the way I expected, and challenges came that I wasnโ€™t prepared for. Doubts, struggles, and distractions slowly made my spiritual journey more difficult. There was a time when I became inactive. I drifted away from the Church and began to forget the strong testimony and joy I once had as a little child. During that period of my life, I felt lost and empty, even though I didnโ€™t fully realize it at the time.

But the Lord never forgot me. Even when I felt distant, He continued to reach out in loving and patient ways. Missionaries would visit me and my family, and through their kindness, consistency, and sincere testimonies, I was reminded that Heavenly Father knew me personally and loved me unconditionally. Little by little, my heart softened. Through their visits and the Spirit I felt, I realized how much I missed the peace, direction, and happiness that come from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Eventually, I made the decision to come back to the Church. That decision was not easy, but it was one of the most important choices I have ever made. As I became active again and began to repent and rebuild my relationship with Heavenly Father, I felt a deep and lasting happiness return to my lifeโ€”the kind of happiness that the world cannot give. I felt forgiven, strengthened, and closer to God than I had ever felt before.

Through this experience, my testimony grew stronger and more personal. I learned that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not just something we grow up withโ€”it is something we must choose, especially during difficult times. I gained a deeper understanding of the Saviorโ€™s Atonement and how real His mercy and grace are.

Because of this, my desire to serve a mission became even stronger than it was when I was a child. I want to help others feel the same love, hope, and peace that I felt when I returned to the Church. I want to be an instrument in the Lordโ€™s hands, just as the missionaries were for me.

I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ changes lives, because it changed mine. I know that Heavenly Father is patient and loving, and that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. So when people ask me now, โ€œAre you going to serve a mission?โ€ I can say with all my heart, yesโ€”not just because it was my dream as a child, but because I know the gospel is true, and I want others to experience the joy and healing it has brought into my life
