De Guzman. The Immanuel United Methodist Church (IUMC) was established in 1972, known then as the youngest and the singing church in the Pampanga District. It was founded by the three brilliant women of God, the Reverend Pastor Paz A Macaspac; the Reverend Goldie Bergsten, and Miss Rose Q. Its Church Council was headed by abled and faithfully committed laymen and women that have contributed much i

n the nurturing of faith amongst its congregation; from kids, the youth, the young adults and the elderlies. Its congregation has grown not only in numbers but mission work and activities have thrived over and beyond the communities it has served till these days. The church has never been spared of the struggles and chaos. Stricken with lahar as caused by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in the 1990s, its people never gave up hope. They have rebuilt its structures and revived the worship and ministry. Steadfast faith has led many of its members to worship and praise God in the place where it is erected. Today, the church stands in its grand stature. Worship and praise music is rending and echoing. The members, young and old alike are garbed with robe of faith and are on fire serving the Lord. The congregation continues to grow. God is with us! An assurance that will keep the church moving, growing and serving. The IUMC resonates its faith and vision with its mission and intent: Committed to Christ, called to witness to the ends of the earth.

“Never Give Up in Prayer”

Genesis 32:26 (NIV): “I will not let you go unless You bless me.”

This verse tells the story of Jacob. At this moment, Jacob was preparing to face his brother, Esau, whom he had wronged years earlier. He was filled with fear and uncertainty about their reunion.

That night, Jacob wrestled with a mysterious man (widely understood to be God or a divine messenger). This struggle lasted until daybreak—it was a physical battle, but also a deeply spiritual one.

This story provides profound insight: we should never stop praying for what we need. Often, we stop praying when the wait feels too long. We get tired of waiting and begin to wonder, "Does God even hear me?" or "It’s been years; why hasn't anything changed?" However, Jacob’s experience reminds us to keep praying and never give up until the Lord blesses us and answers our prayers. This mirrors the teaching in Luke 18:1, which tells us that we should always pray and not lose heart.

Jacob refused to let go until he received assurance. His posture was one of total dependence: “God, I need You—I won’t stop until You answer.” Even when his hip was dislocated during the intense struggle, he refused to release his hold. He prioritized the blessing over his own physical comfort. We need that same kind of persistence today.

Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV): “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.”

Jacob was seeking God with his whole heart. It was this wholeheartedness and refusal to surrender that defined his encounter with the Divine.

Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?”

Context
God spoke these words to the prophet Jeremiah at a time when Jerusalem was on the verge of falling and everything looked hopeless. Even though destruction was imminent, God promised that restoration would still come—an outcome that seemed impossible at the time. To emphasize this, God asked a rhetorical question: “Is anything too hard for Me?”

This verse serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how much we struggle or how broken we feel, God is still God. Nothing is impossible for Him, even when things seem completely insurmountable to us. As Isaiah 55:8 declares: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” We cannot always understand how God works; that is why we must always trust Him.

In this story, God told Jeremiah to do something: buy a piece of land (Jeremiah 32:6–15). Jeremiah obeyed, but he also prayed honestly, essentially asking: “Why invest in land when the whole nation is about to collapse?” It was in response to this doubt that God said:

“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for Me?” We often feel like Jeremiah, saying, "Lord, You are powerful... but this situation looks impossible." In those moments, we should remember Jesus' words in John 13:7: “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” Let us trust God and wait to see the results of His work.

𝟏 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟔:𝟏𝟒: “𝐃𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.”

It’s a short verse, but it is incredibly powerful. If you read the Bible or do daily devotions, you likely understand what love truly means.

What is love?

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” > — 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

When I think of the word LOVE, only one thing comes to mind: Jesus Christ, who represents what true love is. Love is not something you do only when someone is good to you; even when someone hates you, you must love them.

Loving others is not easy. When you embody love in your life, you represent God. When God showed us how to love, He suffered greatly. Similarly, when we show love, we may also suffer. Consider this: you must love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44). How difficult is that to live out? We are called to deny ourselves when we follow Christ (Luke 9:23). We must handle our pain patiently, just as Christ did on the cross.

But of this one thing, I can assure you:

“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” — Romans 8:18 (NIV)

The pain you experience now cannot compare to the future glory God has prepared for you. 🤍
