Today, we are celebrating the Solemnity of Pentecost or the Feast of Holy Spirit who descends to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. it also highlights the Birth of the Holy Catholic Church. the verse "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18). It tells that the Lord entrust to St. Peter to the Church that stands until today that created 1,993 years ago. Saint Peter is the First Pope.

We also remembering the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit
1. Wisdom (Sapientia)
The ability to see things from Godโ€™s perspective rather than a purely human one. It helps you recognize the true value of things and make choices that align with long-term spiritual growth rather than temporary pleasure.
2. Understanding (Intellectus)
The grace to look beyond the surface of religious truths and grasp their deeper meaning. While wisdom helps you judge correctly, understanding helps you comprehend how faith connects to everyday life.
3. Counsel (Consilium)
Also known as Right Judgment. It acts like an inner spiritual compass, helping you discern between right and wrong in complex, real-life situations, and enabling you to choose the path that is morally and spiritually sound.
4. Fortitude (Fortitudo)
Also known as Courage. The strength to stand up for your beliefs, endure hardships, and overcome fear or peer pressure. It gives you the stamina to do the right thing even when it is difficult or unpopular.
5. Knowledge (Scientia)
The ability to see the world and created things for what they truly areโ€”realizing their limitations and how they point back to God. It helps you understand your own purpose and the true meaning of creation.
6. Piety (Pietas)
Also known as Reverence. A deep, heartfelt love and respect for God as a loving creator. It goes beyond just going through the motions of ritual; it inspires a genuine desire to serve God and others out of love, not just obligation.
7. Fear of the Lord (Timor Domini)
Also known as Wonder and Awe. This isn't a terrifying fear of punishment, but rather a profound respect for God's immense majesty and a healthy dread of doing something that would damage your relationship with Him.

This Month we are celebrating the Month of Flowers (Flores de Mayo), in our country, it plays significant role for preserving cultures and traditions. The celebration is defined by its joyful and colorful atmosphere, where devoteesโ€”particularly childrenโ€”gather daily to recite the Rosary and offer fresh flowers to the image of "Mama Mary" as a symbol of love and purity. While the ritual serves as a spiritual practice of devotion and religious instruction, it also represents a deeply rooted cultural heritage that blends Catholic piety with the beauty of the blooming season, often culminating in the grand Santacruzan procession.

This day reminds us that no matter how great our failings, the ocean of Godโ€™s mercy is greater. The image of the Divine Mercy, with rays of red and pale light flowing from the Heart of Jesus, symbolizes the blood and water that gushed forth as a fount of mercy for us. Today, we are invited to trust completely in Him and to echo the simple yet profound prayer: "Jesus, I trust in You."

On the evening of that first day of the week,
when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, โ€œPeace be with you.โ€
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, โ€œPeace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.โ€
And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, โ€œReceive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.โ€
Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, โ€œWe have seen the Lord.โ€ But he said to them, โ€œUnless I see the mark of the nails in his hands
and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.โ€
Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, โ€œPeace be with you.โ€ Then he said to Thomas, โ€œPut your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe.โ€ Thomas answered and said to him, โ€œMy Lord and my God!โ€ Jesus said to him, โ€œHave you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.โ€
Now, Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

At daybreak on the first day of the week the women who had come from Galilee with Jesus took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb; but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were puzzling over this, behold, two men in dazzling garments appeared to them. They were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground. They said to them, "Why do you seek the living one among the dead? He is not here, but he has been raised.
Remember what he said to you while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified, and rise on the third day."
And they remembered his words.
Then they returned from the tomb and announced all these things to the eleven and to all the others. The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; the others who accompanied them also told this to the apostles, but their story seemed like nonsense and they did not believe them. But Peter got up and ran to the tomb, bent down, and saw the burial cloths alone; then he went home amazed at what had happened.

The celebration of the Lord's Passion contains three parts: The Liturgy of the Word, the Adoration of the Cross and Holy Communion with hosts that were consecrated during Mass on Holy Thursday.

Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron valley to where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered. Judas his betrayer also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.
So Judas got a band of soldiers and guards from the chief priests and the Pharisees and went there with lanterns, torches, and weapons. Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to him, went out and said to them, โ€œWhom are you looking for?โ€ They answered him, โ€œJesus the Nazarean.โ€ He said to them, โ€œI AM.โ€ Judas his betrayer was also with them. When he said to them, โ€œI AM, โ€œ they turned away and fell to the ground. So he again asked them, โ€œWhom are you looking for?โ€
They said, โ€œJesus the Nazorean.โ€
Jesus answered, โ€œI told you that I AM.
So if you are looking for me, let these men go.โ€ This was to fulfill what he had said, โ€œI have not lost any of those you gave me.โ€
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, struck the high priestโ€™s slave, and cut off his right ear.The slaveโ€™s name was Malchus.
Jesus said to Peter, โ€œPut your sword into its scabbard. Shall I not drink the cup that the Father gave me?โ€

So the band of soldiers, the tribune, and the Jewish guards seized Jesus, bound him, and brought him to Annas first. He was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. It was Caiaphas who had counseled the Jews that it was better that one man should die rather than the people.

Simon Peter and another disciple followed Jesus. Now the other disciple was known to the high priest, and he entered the courtyard of the high priest with Jesus. But Peter stood at the gate outside. So the other disciple, the acquaintance of the high priest, went out and spoke to the gatekeeper and brought Peter in.Then the maid who was the gatekeeper said to Peter, โ€œYou are not one of this manโ€™s disciples, are you?โ€He said, โ€œI am not.โ€ Now the slaves and the guards were standing around a charcoal fire that they had made, because it was cold, and were warming themselves.Peter was also standing there keeping warm.

The high priest questioned Jesus
about his disciples and about his doctrine. Jesus answered him,โ€œI have spoken publicly to the world. I have always taught in a synagogue
or in the temple area where all the Jews gather, and in secret I have said nothing. Why ask me? Ask those who heard me what I said to them.
They know what I said.โ€ When he had said this, one of the temple guards standing there struck Jesus and said, โ€œIs this the way you answer the high priest?โ€ Jesus answered him, โ€œIf I have spoken wrongly, testify to the wrong; but if I have spoken rightly, why do you strike me?โ€ Then Annas sent him bound to Caiaphas the high priest.

Now Simon Peter was standing there keeping warm. And they said to him,โ€œYou are not one of his disciples, are you?โ€ He denied it and said, โ€œI am not.โ€ One of the slaves of the high priest, a relative of the one whose ear Peter had cut off, said, โ€œDidnโ€™t I see you in the garden with him?โ€ Again Peter denied it. And immediately the c**k crowed.

Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas to the praetorium. It was morning. And they themselves did not enter the praetorium, in order not to be defiled so that they could eat the Passover. So Pilate came out to them and said, โ€œWhat charge do you bring against this man?โ€ They answered and said to him, โ€œIf he were not a criminal, we would not have handed him over to you.โ€ At this, Pilate said to them,
โ€œTake him yourselves, and judge him according to your law.โ€ The Jews answered him, โ€œWe do not have the right to execute anyone,โ€œ in order that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled
that he said indicating the kind of death he would die. So Pilate went back into the praetorium and summoned Jesus and said to him,
โ€œAre you the King of the Jews?โ€
Jesus answered, โ€œDo you say this on your own or have others told you about me?โ€ Pilate answered,โ€œI am not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me.What have you done?โ€Jesus answered, โ€œMy kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom did belong to this world, my attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.
But as it is, my kingdom is not here.โ€
So Pilate said to him, โ€œThen you are a king?โ€ Jesus answered, โ€œYou say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.โ€
Pilate said to him, โ€œWhat is truth?โ€

When he had said this,
he again went out to the Jews and said to them,
โ€œI find no guilt in him.
But you have a custom that I release one prisoner to you at Passover. Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?โ€
They cried out again, โ€œNot this one but Barabbas!โ€ Now Barabbas was a revolutionary.

Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged.
And the soldiers wove a crown out of thorns and placed it on his head,
and clothed him in a purple cloak, and they came to him and said,
โ€œHail, King of the Jews!โ€
And they struck him repeatedly. Once more Pilate went out and said to them, โ€œLook, I am bringing him out to you,
so that you may know that I find no guilt in him.โ€ So Jesus came out,
wearing the crown of thorns and the purple cloak. And he said to them, โ€œBehold, the man!โ€
When the chief priests and the guards saw him they cried out,
โ€œCrucify him, crucify him!โ€

Pilate said to them,
โ€œTake him yourselves and crucify him.
I find no guilt in him.โ€
The Jews answered,
โ€œWe have a law, and according to that law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.โ€ Now when Pilate heard this statement,
he became even more afraid, and went back into the praetorium and said to Jesus, โ€œWhere are you from?โ€Jesus did not answer him. So Pilate said to him, โ€œDo you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you and I have power to crucify you?โ€
Jesus answered him, โ€œYou would have no power over me if it had not been given to you from above. For this reason the one who handed me over to you
has the greater sin.โ€
Consequently, Pilate tried to release him; but the Jews cried out, โ€œIf you release him, you are not a Friend of Caesar.
Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.โ€

When Pilate heard these words he brought Jesus out and seated him on the judgeโ€™s bench in the place called Stone Pavement, in Hebrew, Gabbatha. It was preparation day for Passover, and it was about noon. And he said to the Jews,
โ€œBehold, your king!โ€
They cried out,
โ€œTake him away, take him away! Crucify him!โ€
Pilate said to them,
โ€œShall I crucify your king?โ€
The chief priests answered,
โ€œWe have no king but Caesar.โ€
Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.

So they took Jesus, and, carrying the cross himself,
he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle. Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read,
โ€œJesus the Nazorean, the King of the Jews.โ€ Now many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek. So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, โ€œDo not write โ€˜The King of the Jews,โ€™
but that he said, โ€˜I am the King of the Jewsโ€™.โ€
Pilate answered, โ€œWhat I have written, I have written.โ€

When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four shares, a share for each soldier. They also took his tunic, but the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top down. So they said to one another, โ€œLetโ€™s not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it will be, โ€œ
in order that the passage of Scripture might be fulfilled that says:

They divided my garments among them,
and for my vesture they cast lots.
This is what the soldiers did.
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother
and his motherโ€™s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,
and Mary of Magdala.
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved
he said to his mother, โ€œWoman, behold, your son.โ€
Then he said to the disciple,
โ€œBehold, your mother.โ€
And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, โ€œI thirst.โ€ There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, โ€œIt is finished.โ€
And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

Here all kneel and pause for a short time.

Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and that they be taken down. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. An eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true; he knows that he is speaking the truth, so that you also may come to believe. For this happened so that the Scripture passage might be fulfilled:

Not a bone of it will be broken.
And again another passage says:
They will look upon him whom they have pierced.

After this, Joseph of Arimathea,
secretly a disciple of Jesus for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it.
So he came and took his body.
Nicodemus, the one who had first come to him at night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about one hundred pounds. They took the body of Jesus and bound it with burial cloths along with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.
Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. So they laid Jesus there because of the Jewish preparation day; for the tomb was close by.
