Celebrating a Milestone in Episcopal Ministry of Rt. Rev. Nixon T. Jose.

The Cathedral of St. Stephen Family also joyfully celebrated the 3rd Consecration Anniversary to the Episcopate of our beloved Diocesan Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Nixon Tomas Jose.

As a simple expression of our love, gratitude, and prayers, the cathedral faithful led by its council presented a token of appreciation in thanksgiving for his faithful leadership and devoted pastoral ministry not only to the cathedral and to Diocese of La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Abra to the whole of Iglesia Filipina Independiente.

May this humble gift serve as a reminder of this significant milestone in your episcopal journey and of the prayers and support of your Cathedral family. May the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom, strength, good health, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you shepherd God’s people with faith, humility, and compassion.

The Cathedral of St. Stephen joyfully celebrates the 124th Proclamation Anniversary of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente!

With grateful hearts and deep thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Cathedral joyfully celebrates the commemoration 124 years of faithful witness, courageous service, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente.

As the Mother Church of the Diocese of La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Abra, the Cathedral of St. Stephen proudly celebrates this historic milestone with every Filipino Independent faithful across the country and around the world. We give thanks for our rich heritage of faith, our enduring mission, and the countless lives transformed through the ministry of our Church.

This year's theme, "Sustained by grace, nurtured in faith, sent forth in mission" (Ephesians 2:8–10), reminds us that our identity as God's people is rooted in His grace, strengthened through the life of the Church, and fulfilled as we proclaim Christ's love in word and deed.

As we celebrate our 124th anniversary, may we renew our commitment to be a Church that worships faithfully, serves compassionately, forms disciples intentionally, and stands courageously for truth, justice, and peace.

Together, let us continue to build upon the legacy of those who came before us and carry forward the mission entrusted to the Iglesia Filipina Independiente for generations to come.

“Pro Deo et Patria” — For God and Country

As part of the 124th Proclamation Anniversary of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, the faithful of the Cathedral of St. Stephen proudly and joyfully sang the National Anthem of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente, Pro Deo et Patria.

More than a hymn, it is a solemn declaration of our identity and mission as a Church—faithful to Jesus Christ, rooted in the Gospel, and committed to serving both God and our beloved nation.

124th Proclamation Anniversary of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente

The Cathedral of St. Stephen, San Esteban, Ilocos Sur, together with the Cathedral congregation, prayerfully celebrated the 124th Proclamation Anniversary of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente through the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by The Rt. Rev. Nixon T. Jose, Diocesan Bishop of the Diocese of La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Abra, who reminded the faithful of our continuing call to live out this year’s theme:

“Sustained by grace, nurtured in faith, sent forth in mission.” (Ephesians 2:8–10)
