DIOCESAN SCHOOLS IN SOLIDARITY FOR THE 32ND CHED FOUNDING ANNIVERSARY AND 6TH NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION DAY

The Diocesan Schools Commission of the Diocese of San Carlos, together with St. Joseph College of Canlaon, Inc., a diocesan Catholic institution under the Diocese of San Carlos, and in solidarity with Kabankalan Catholic College, Cabarrus Catholic College, and other colleges and universities in the Negros Island Region (Region XVIII), joins the Commission on Higher Education in celebrating the 32nd Founding Anniversary and the 6th National Higher Education Day with the theme:
โ€œACHIEVE-ing Knowledge Economy Together for a Future-Ready Bagong Pilipinas.โ€

The celebration officially commenced through the Opening Mass held at the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral under the Diocese of Dumaguete, gathering education leaders, academic institutions, and stakeholders committed to strengthening quality Catholic and higher education in the country.

YEAR-END BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING OF SCDSAFI l MAY 12, 2026

The San Carlos Diocesan Social Action Foundation, Inc., the social action arm of the Diocese of San Carlos, Negros Island Region, successfully conducted its Year-End Board of Trustees Meeting marked by gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to social transformation and service.

The meeting was led by its Chairman, Most Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza, D.D., who guided the gathering in evaluating the accomplishments, mission initiatives, and challenges encountered by the foundation in its continuing service to communities, especially the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors of society.

During the meeting, Rev. Fr. Ricky R. Beboso presented the successes, programs, and challenges of the organization during his term as Executive Director. His dedication and leadership in advancing the social action mission of the Diocese were sincerely acknowledged and appreciated by the Board.

The Board of Trustees also warmly welcomed the newly appointed Executive Director of SCDSAFI, Rev. Fr. Marxlen B. Jovenes, expressing support and prayers as he begins his new ministry of leadership and service for the social action programs of the Diocese.

As SCDSAFI continues its mission of faith-driven social action, the gathering became a meaningful moment of thanksgiving, transition, collaboration, and renewed commitment toward justice, peace, integrity of creation, and compassionate service.

ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC SCHOOL OF SAGAY, INC.

In celebration of the Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1, 2026, St. Joseph Catholic School of Sagay, Inc. officially broke ground for its soon-to-rise 2-storey building with 10 classrooms โ€” a symbol of unwavering faith, diligent labor, and hope for future generations.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Most Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza, D. D., bishop and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Diocesan Schools of the Diocese of San Carlos, Rev. Fr. Joferson P. Garces, outgoing Parish Priest and School Director, together with Rev. Fr. Earl Aureo Castillo, incoming Parish Priest and School Director.

On May 6โ€“7, 2026, the administrators, faculty, and staff of Holy Infant Academy participated in a two-day Strategic Planning and Alignment of Organizational Structure Workshop facilitated by the Diocesan Schools Commission.

The activity focused on the formulation of the schoolโ€™s Six-Year Development Plan geared toward strengthening academic programs, Christian formation, institutional sustainability, and organizational effectiveness. The workshop also provided an opportunity for collaboration, reflection, and alignment of responsibilities among school personnel.

Through meaningful discussions and planning sessions, participants worked together in identifying priorities, setting goals, and assigning responsibilities that will help guide the institution in the coming years.

DIOCESAN SCHOOLS COMMISSION HOLDS MEETING; NEW SCHOOL DIRECTOR ASSUMES POST / May 5, 2026

The Diocesan Schools Commission of the Diocese of San Carlos successfully conducted a meeting today under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Richard Dumalag, Diocesan Schools Superintendent, together with Sr. Ma. Pablita Gabin, Carm. O.L., Executive Director for Plans and Programs.

A key highlight of the gathering was the official assumption of Rev. Fr. Aldarico Cagaitan as the newly appointed School Director of St. Roch Academy in Manapla. His appointment marks a new chapter in the leadership of the institution.

During the meeting, representatives from the Sisters of the Franciscan Immaculatineโ€”Sr. Ruby Rita Linsangan, SFI, and Sr. Delia Norella, SFIโ€”presented essential school documents to ensure a smooth transition and alignment of institutional processes.

Following the formal session, the Diocesan Schools Commission met with the faculty and staff to discuss upcoming directions, priorities, and the shared vision for the school. The discussion emphasized collaboration, continuity, and commitment to the mission of providing quality Catholic education.
