On this same blessed day of June 6, 2026, right after the joyful celebration of Kasalan ng Bayan, another meaningful and historic event took place at Saint Vincent De Paul Mission Station. The formal Turn Over Rites and Holy Mass. This sacred occasion was presided over by Most Rev. Gerardo D. Alminaza, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese, who led the rites for the official transfer of leadership and duties. The service and care of the mission station were formally handed over from Rev. Fr. Antonio D. Canumay to Rev. Fr. Antonio D. Brasona Jr., who now serves as the new Priest In-Charge of our community.
In his message and homily, Bishop Alminaza spoke about the beautiful nature of service and leadership in the Church. He taught that being a priest is a special calling from God, to guide, teach, and care for His people like a good shepherd. He expressed deep gratitude to Rev. Fr. Antonio D. Canumay for all his years of dedicated service, love, and guidance to our community. He recognized how Fr. Canumay nurtured our faith, led us in the Sacraments, and helped our mission station grow in grace and unity. His work and kindness will always be remembered and cherished by everyone here.
Bishop Alminaza also formally welcomed Rev. Fr. Antonio D. Brasona Jr. as our new spiritual leader. He reminded us that this turn over is not an end, but a continuation of Godโs great work among us. He explained that the mission and the community belong to God, and priests are only His instruments to lead us closer to Him. He encouraged Fr. Brasona Jr. to continue building on the good foundation laid before him, to lead with love, patience, and faith, and to always be close to the people he serves. At the same time, he called on all the faithful to support, respect, and cooperate with our new priest, just as we did before, so that together we may grow stronger in our Catholic faith.
As we mark this new chapter for Saint Vincent De Paul Mission Station, we offer our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Canumay for his faithful service, and we pray that God blesses him abundantly in his next assignment. We also open our hearts and homes to Fr. Brasona Jr., promising our prayers, help, and unity as he leads our community. May God continue to bless our mission station, keep us united in love and faith, and make us a community that always shines with Godโs goodness and grace.
