A total of 200 beneficiaries from Barangay Linothangan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental received non-food items under the Emergency Response to Communities Affected by Typhoon Tino in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental, implemented as part of the One Negros Emergency Response Initiative.
The activity was supported by Most Rev. Gerardo A. Alminaza, D.D., Bishop of San Carlos, and implemented by the Diocesan Social Action Center (DSAC) San Carlos, headed by Rev. Fr. Ricky R. Beboso, Executive Director.
This response was made possible through funding from AECID (Spanish Government) through Caritas EspaΓ±ola and Caritas Philippines, in collaboration with the Dioceses of Bacolod and Kabankalan.
This activity highlights a people-centered and dignity-driven approach to humanitarian assistance, where beneficiaries accessed support through a market-based approach. They were given the privilege to personally select and shop for the non-food items they needed most based on their household priorities.
The identified supplier for the distribution was Prince Hypermart Canlaon, which partnered in ensuring accessible, organized, and efficient delivery of assistance to the community.
Through this initiative, affected families were empowered to make their own choices while receiving timely support for their everyday needs.
The Diocese of San Carlos, through its Diocesan Social Action Center, continues to work alongside partner organizations in responding to and supporting communities affected by disasters, restoring dignity, and strengthening resilience among families facing difficult circumstances.
