Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.
- 1 John 4:11-12

Three things will last forever -faith,hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love. Let love be your highest goal!

SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2024
“Jesus said, ‘You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.’ There it is—the fear of the Lord.”

This Sunday Service with John Bevere stresses the importance of having a deep respect and awe for the Lord. This reverence helps us gain wisdom, understand God's holiness and power, and strengthen our relationship with Him through obedience and honor.

In our faith journey, we often focus on God's love, grace, and mercy, but the fear of the Lord is equally important. This fear is profound reverence and awe for who He is, recognizing His holiness and power. Proverbs 9:10 tells us that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." This fear leads to a deeper relationship with God, built on respect for His divine nature.

Biblical encounters with God's glory, such as Isaiah's vision (Isaiah 6:5) and John's vision of the risen Christ (Revelation 1:17), highlight the profound humility and awe these men felt. The holiness of God inspires awe and worship. Living in the fear of the Lord means honoring Him in every aspect of our lives, obeying His commandments, and submitting to His will. Job exemplified this fear through his integrity and resilience despite suffering (Job 1:1, 13:15).

The fear of the Lord brings blessings. Psalm 25:14 says, "The Lord confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them." Jesus said, "You are my friends if you do what I command" (John 15:14). True friendship with God is rooted in obedience and reverence, leading to experiencing His love and wisdom.

SCRIPTURE
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." - Proverbs 9:10

REFLECTION
Take a moment to reflect on your own life. Do you approach God with a sense of awe and reverence? Do you honor Him in your decisions and actions? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where you may lack the fear of the Lord and to help you cultivate a deeper respect for His holiness.

“While a little faith may bring your soul to heaven, a lot of faith–clinging to God despite your circumstances–will bring heaven to your soul.”

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” -Proverbs 9:10

Heavenly Father, It is your wisdom I desire for it is the only knowledge worth having. Your wisdom shows me how to live day to day in this life with your blessings. As I study your word I understand how love works coupled with the power you have invested in me. I begin to understand the wisdom of your ways that are so much higher than my own. Through the power of your word I realize how childish I can act sometimes and I need your instruction in kingdom principles. When I honor you and draw near to you I hear your heartbeat and long to be with you. I will follow you wherever you lead. I am in this world but not of it. I am only passing through on my way to my eternal home with you in heaven. You are preparing me for that day when we will never be parted and I will know fully the beauty of your wisdom. I am humbled before you Lord, and feel so ignorant of your ways. Strengthen me to sit at your feet and be instructed by your Holy Spirit that I might learn what is holy and pleasing in your sight. In the precious name of Jesus, amen.

The best thing to do is to pray when you are in worries. Turn worry into prayers.

Feel Like Giving Up?

Therefore , strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disable, but rather healed.
-Hebrews 12:12-13

Everyone at sometime or another feels overwhelmed by disouragement and is tempted to conclude the same thing

The promise of God are fenced in by His faithfulness. When Sarah.was ninety years old, fifty years beyond the normal age for child-bearing, she brought forth a son. By faith, Sarah miraculously received the ability to conceive.

Unlike men who make promises, or sign covenants and treaties that are often broken before the ink is dry, God will honor His word. "The Word of Our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8). Therefore you can stand on His promises, confident that He will never fail you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). When trouble comes, don't give up on God. Rather, tie a knot in the rope of faith and hold on. He'll be there at exactly the right time.

Recovering Your First Love

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.
-Revelation 2:4

What is first love? First love is that deep devotion to Jesus Christ, which resulted from knowing your sins were forgiven and that you were refreshed with the blood of the Lamb. It was the warmth of devotion first had when you were converted, when you were so excited about attending Bible studies and worship services, when you read the Bible for "ten minutes" and discovered and hour has gone by.

How do we recover what we've lost today? The way back is found in these three words: Remember, repent, and return.

You don't have to live with lukewarmness or fear that you have gone too far to come back. God wants you to walk with Him. The fire can be rikendled.

Focusing on the Father

And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
-1 John 5:15

I have wondered just what would happen, if we could quietly sit in God's presence until His presence filled our hearts.

You can connect with God by praying -worshipping, listening meditation, and talking to Him. Time in His presence always products a melody in life.

Overcoming the Enemy

They overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.
-Revelation 12:11

Writing the last book of the New Testament, the Apostle John, one of the youngest of the twelve who walked with Jesus, describes a scene where there was a battle of spiritual forces in heaven. He says, "The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. . . . He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short"(Revelation 12:9, 12).
What's happening in our world today tells us that Satan's time is short. The day is fast approaching when God will say, "Enough is enough" and send His Son to establish His kingdom, when people will beat their swords into plowshares and their instruments of warfare into pruning hooks.
Of the arch-enemy Satan, John says, "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony"(Revelation 12:11). When it comes to your own personal struggle with evil, you can win in the same way.

Living in the Shadow of the Almighty

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
-Psalm 91:1

Living in the shadow of the Almighty makes us invulnerable to our enemies. It means that safety isn' the absence of danger but the presence and protection of the Lord. The dwelling place of the Most High can be found wherever you meet God-your bedroom, your offoce, or your hiding place.
The Hebrew word that is translated "abide" or "dwell" literally means to pitch a tent as a temporary dwelling, or to bed down as you would in a cave when you were pursued by an enemy.
Today we desperately need to discover that place of refuge. The hymn writer spoke of it, saying,
There is a place of quite rest, near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot mo**st, near to the heart of God.
If you have never found a "secret place of refuge", make one-the place where you meet God in surrender and commitment. Once you have been there, you will never again be content being anywhere else.
