“Thy Faith Hath Saved Thee”

One of the clearest messages in the New Testament is that Jesus Christ is a healer. Accounts of the Savior healing the sick and afflicted are many—from a woman with a fever to a widow’s son who had died. Why the emphasis on physical healing? What messages might there be for us in these miracles? Certainly one obvious message is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, with power over all things, including our physical pains and imperfections. But another meaning is found in His words to the skeptical scribes: “That ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins” (Mark 2:10). So when you read about a blind person or a l***r being healed, you might think of the healing—both spiritual and physical—that you can receive from the Savior and hear Him say to you, “Thy faith hath saved thee” (Luke 7:50).

Yesterday, February 18, 2023, at 5:30pm was the combine San Carlos 1st and 2nd Branch Saturday Fun Night with the theme: "YSA Ball and Welcome Party." Held at the San Carlos Chapel, many who went wore their I WILL GO, I WILL SERVE t-shirts, as they listened to the speakers.

What a wonderful sight to see! Hoping for more activities like this in the upcoming days, and hoping for more to come and see, to come and feel, and to come and have fun.

“Blessed Are Ye”

By this point in His ministry, it was clear that Jesus’s teachings would be unlike what the people of His time were used to hearing. The poor will receive the kingdom of God? The meek will inherit the earth? Blessed are the persecuted? The scribes and Pharisees were not teaching such things. And yet those who truly understood God’s law recognized truth in the Savior’s words. “An eye for an eye” and “hate thine enemy” were lesser laws (Matthew 5:38, 43). But Jesus Christ had come to teach a higher law (see 3 Nephi 15:2–10), designed to help us one day become “perfect, even as [our] Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

Hey, hey, hey! Meet Sister Neljan Kaye Mamar a.k.a. Kwenie! And, it’s her birthday! Since, it’s her special day today, why not get to know a little bit about her. She adores different shades of blue, her taste buds always have a thing for spaghetti and noodles, and she enjoys fishing with all her heart.

Not only that, she’s a wonderful soul, and an amazing YSA Class student. Also, we’re blessed to have her on board in this spiritual journey with us. With that, we wish nothing more than for you to have a blissful year ahead, and to have more candles to blow. Enjoy your day, Sister Kwenie!

“The Spirit of the Lord Is upon Me”

From His youth, Jesus seemed to be aware that He had a unique, sacred mission. But as Jesus prepared to begin His earthly ministry, the adversary sought to plant doubt in the Savior’s mind. “If thou be the Son of God,” Satan said (Luke 4:3, italics added). But the Savior had communed with His Father in Heaven. He knew the scriptures, and He knew who He was. To Him, Satan’s offer—“All this power will I give thee” (Luke 4:6)—was a hollow one, for the Savior’s lifelong preparation allowed Him to receive “the power of the Spirit” (Luke 4:14). So despite temptation, trials, and rejection, Jesus Christ never wavered from His appointed work: “I must preach the kingdom of God … for therefore am I sent” (Luke 4:43).

Alma 6:6, " Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that they should gather themselves together oft,... ."

Last January 22, 2023 was the first San Carlos District Conference of the year, members and visitors got the chance to listen and witness God's instruments in giving enlightenment to all those whose hearts were open to feel and listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost for personal revelations. What a blessed Sunday indeed!

Additionally, the YSAs got the chance to take pictures with the Philippines Cebu Mission President--President Agustin. And, some got to participate in the choir.

What's a full-time missionary? Someone who leaves their families for 18 months or 2 years temporarily so that others may be with their families for eternity.

They did not go to a specific place just to do nothing, but they went because of one purpose only: " To invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end."

Kudos to these Brethren! Hoping for more 💕💕💕

We Have Come to Worship Him

From the day of His birth, it was clear that Jesus was no ordinary child. It wasn’t just the new star in the heavens or the joyous angelic proclamation that made Jesus’s infancy remarkable. It was also the fact that such a variety of faithful people—from different nations, professions, and backgrounds—felt immediately drawn to Him. Even before He uttered His invitation to “come, follow me,” they came (Luke 18:22). Not everyone came to Him, of course. There were many who paid Him no notice, and a jealous ruler even sought His life. But the humble, pure, devoted seekers of righteousness saw Him for who He was—their promised Messiah. Their devotion inspires our own, for the “good tidings of great joy” brought to the shepherds were for “all people,” and the “Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” was born that day unto all of us (see Luke 2:10–11).
