GRECCIO — The First Nativity Scene
St. Bonaventure tells the story of Francis that Christmas Eve in Greccio in his Life of St. Francis:
“It happened in the third year before his death, that in order to excite the inhabitants of Grecio to commemorate the nativity of the Infant Jesus with great devotion, [St. Francis] determined to keep it with all possible solemnity; and lest he should be accused of lightness or novelty, he asked and obtained the permission of the sovereign Pontiff.”
“Then he prepared a manger, and brought hay, and an ox and an ass to the place appointed. The brethren were summoned, the people ran together, the forest resounded with their voices, and that venerable night was made glorious by many and brilliant lights and sonorous psalms of praise. The man of God [St. Francis] stood before the manger, full of devotion and piety, bathed in tears and radiant with joy; the Holy Gospel was chanted by Francis, the Levite of Christ. Then he preached to the people around the nativity of the poor King; and being unable to utter His name for the tenderness of His love, He called Him the Babe of Bethlehem. A certain valiant and veracious soldier, Master John of Grecio, who, for the love of Christ, had left the warfare of this world, and become a dear friend of this holy man, affirmed that he beheld an Infant so marvelous sleeping in the manger, Whom the blessed Father Francis embraced with both his arms, as if he would awake Him from sleep (…)”.

During that seraphic apparition, Christ, who appeared to St.Francis, spoke to him certain secret and profound things which the Saint. was never willing to reveal to anyone while he was alive, but after his death he revealed them in these words: “Do you know what I have done?" said Christ. "I have given you the Stigmata which are the emblems of My Passion, so that you may be My standard-bearer. And as | descended into Limbo in the day when I died and took from there by virtue of these Stigmata of Mine all the souls that I found there, so I grant to you that every year on the day of your death you may go to Purgatory and by virtue of your Stigmata you may take from there and lead to Paradise all the souis of your Three Orders, that is, the Friars Minor, the Sisters, and the Continent, and also others who have been devoted to you, whom you may find there, so thatyou may be conformed to Me in death as you are in life."

VIERNES DOLORES
The Friday of Sorrows is a solemn pious remembrance of the sorrowful Blessed Virgin Mary on the Friday before Palm Sunday held in the fifth week of Lent (formerly called "Passion Week").

In certain Catholic countries, especially in Mexico, Guatemala, Italy, Peru, Brazil, Spain, Malta, Nicaragua and the Philippines, it is seen as the beginning of the Holy Week celebrations and termed as Viernes de Dolores (Friday of Sorrows). It takes place exactly one week before Good Friday, and concentrates on the emotional pain that the Passion of Jesus Christ caused to his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is venerated under the title Our Lady of Sorrows.

Let us pray:
O God, in whose Passion, according to the prophesy of Simeon, the sword of sorrow didst pierce the most sweet soul of the glorious Mary, Virgin and Mother; mercifully grant that we who call to mind with veneration her anguish and suffering, by the glorious merits and prayers of all the Saints who faithfully stood beneath the cross interceding for us, may obtain the blessed fruit of Thy Passion, Thou Who livest and reigneth with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, unto ages of ages. Amen.

Minamahal naming San Pedro Bautista, sa ikapitong araw ng aming nobena, kami ay nananalangin sa iyong pamamagitan, na kami ay pagkalooban ng Panginoon ng biyaya ng pananampalatayang, kahalintulad ng sa iyo. Nang ikaw ay magbinata, hindi ka natakot sa hamong maglingkod sa mga di kilalang lugar sa piling ng mga taong di mo kilala. Ang matatag mong pananampalataya ang nagbigay sa iyo nang lakas. Ipanalangin mo kami upang aming matutunan ang kalooban ng ating Amang Makapangyrihan at nawa, kami ay magkaroon nang lakas ng loob na sundin ang kanyang tawag upang tanging katotohanan laman ang mabuhay sa aming mga puso. PANALANGIN PARA SA IKAAPAT NA ARAW NG NOBENA SA KARANGALAN NG ATING MAHAL NA PATRON, SAN PEDRO BAUTISTA

Mahal naming San Pedro Bautista, kami ay nananalangin na katulad mo, matutunan din sana naming pahalagahan ang mga nilikha ng Diyos at mahalin ang aming kapaligiran. Ang ating Amang Diyos ay nagpasiya na ipailalim sa kapangyarihan ng tao ang kalikasan. Nawa’y madala natin ang Espiritu ni Kristo sa lahat ng ating pagsisikap na maitatag ang tunay na pag-ibig at nawa’y gabayan niya ang sangnilikha sa ganap na katuparan. Pinakamamahal naming Santo, tulungan mo kaming manalangin na ang aming mga bukirin ay maging sagana sa ani at nawa’y huwag pahintulutan ng Panginoon na ang p**t ng kalikasan ay magdala pa ng higit na pinsala sa aming bayan. Mahal naming patron, dinala mo ang Salita ng Diyos sa aming bansa. Ipanalangin mo kami upang patuloy kaming mahubog sa wangis ng ating Panginoong Hesukristo; nawa'y maging saksi kami ng ebanghelyo ng kagalakan dito sa mundong salat sa kapayapaan at puno ng mga pangakong di natutupad. Kami nawa ay maging tunay na alagad ng Diyos na naghahatid ng balita ng kanyang pagmamahal sa bawat taong aming nakakasama higit lalo sa aming pamilya. Amen.

Pinakamamahal naming Patron, sa pamamagitan mo kami ay nananalangin para sa kapayapaan ng aming kalooban, ng aming mga pamilya, ng aming bansa at ng buong mundo. Matutunan nawa naming magmahal sa bawat isa katulad ng pagmamahal mo sa lahat ng mga taong iyong nakadaumpalad. Mahal naming San Pedro Bautista, tulungan mo kaming ipanalangin sa Panginoon ang ganap na kapayapaan at tuluyang pagkawala ng kabuktutan at kalupitan sa mundo. Ang mga taong nakararanas ng kapayapaan at manatili sa ganitong kalagayan; ang may kaaway at mawalan ng p**t sa kanilang mga puso. Magkaroon ng paghihilom ang sugat ng galit at hinanakit. Magkaroon nawa ng kapayapaan sa aming panahon upang patuloy naming ipagdiwang ang pagmamahal ng Diyos at purihin namin siya nang walang katapusan. Amen.

Makapangyarihang Ama, kami'y nananalangin a kami ay lyong biyayaan ng kabanalang ipinagkaloob Mo sa aming mahal na patron magmula pa ng kanyang pagkabata.
Patnubayan Mo ang bawat diwa, ang bawat pagsisikap ng aming buhay upang hindi malambungan ng aming mga pagkukulang at kahinaan ang iyong kaluwalhatian.
Nawa'y patuloy naming pagpitaganan si San Pedro
Bautista bilang aming halimbawa sa paglago ng aming buhay Espiritwal.
