Pax Romana is the premier religious organization of the University of Santo Tomas, mainly responsible for handling various activities and events for the formation of Catholic Christian individuals inside the Thomasian community. Pax Romana does not solely focus on the prayer life of students, rather, it goes beyond conducting Christ-centered community service programs that are rooted in our Catholic faith and values.

Bilang isang diyakono ng Roma, si San Lorenzo ang nangangalaga sa mga materyal na yaman ng Simbahan. Noong malaman ni San Lorenzo na siyaโ€™y susunod sa mga yapak ni Papa Santo Sixto II sa pagkamartir bilang bahagi ng pag-uusig ni Emperador Valeriano sa mga Kristyano, sinasabing hinanap niya ang mga mahihirap at mga nangangailangan, at nilimusan niya ang lahat ng ito.

Nang itoโ€™y malaman ng prepekto ng Roma, tinanong niya si San Lorenzo, kung mayaman naman pala ang Simbahan, ibigay niya ang yamang ito sa Emperador. Nang minsang naglakbay si Santo Domingo de Guzman kasama ng obispo ng Osma patungong Katimugang Pransya, kung saan laganap ang heresiyang Albigense, na nagtuturo na masama ang mga materyal na bagay, at mayroong dalawang Diyos, isang mabuti at isang masama.

Dala ng lubos na pagmamahal para sa kanilang mga kaluluwa, nangaral si Santo Domingo at nakipagdebate sa mga erehe, ngunit ang kanyang ulirang halimbawa ng pamumuhay ang siya rin nagpalambot ng kanilang mga puso at nagpanumbalik sa kanila sa pananampalatayang Kristiyano Katoliko.

Ang mabuting halimbawa ng ating Amang si Santo Domingo de Guzmanโ€“tagapagtatag ng Orden ng mga Tagapangaral na nangangasiwa sa ating Unibersidad, ang mag-udyok nawa sa atin na ikalat ang apoy ng pagmamahal ni Kristo sa bawat dako ng sanlibutan, di lamang sa pamamagitan ng pangangaral ng Mabuting Balita, kundi, sa pamamagitan rin ng ating mabuting halimbawa.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY, UST PAX ROMANA โ€“ SHS UNIT IS HONORED WITH THE BLESSED JORDAN OF SAXONY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING TEAMWORK ๐ŸŒŸ

Last June 15, 2026, UST Pax Romana โ€“ Senior High School Unit proudly received the Blessed Jordan of Saxony Award for Outstanding Teamwork, marking the first time that the organization has been bestowed with this distinction. This milestone reflects the unwavering dedication, collaboration, and commitment of every member, executive board officer, adviser, and administrator who worked tirelessly throughout the year in service of the Thomasian community. More than an award, this recognition celebrates the shared mission, sacrifices, and faith that strengthened our organization through every liturgy, organization days, and different initiatives.

This achievement becomes even more meaningful as it was attained during the Jubilee Year of Hope, reminding us that when we journey together as pilgrims of hope, guided by faith and united in service, great things become possible. We also dedicate this recognition to St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, patron of UST Senior High School, whose canonization during our term made this academic year even more historic and grace-filled. Inspired by his witness of joyful holiness and service, may we continue to live out his call of Verso lโ€™Altoโ€”to always strive upward toward Christ.

Above all, we offer this achievement to God, the source of all blessings, and to the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose maternal guidance continually leads us closer to her Son. We celebrate today the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, designated on the Friday after Corpus Christi. This feast was first celebrated on 20 October 1672 by Father Giovanni Eudes, but the devotion was popularized when the Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. The practice of the nine First Fridays started on this apparitions when Our Lord asked her to receive communion every First Friday for nine months. Pope Pius IX extended this feast throughout the whole Church and St. John Paul II instituted it as the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus, whose charity overflows despite our negligence and contempt, have mercy on us.

Rather than placing our trust solely in innovation, the Holy Father reminds us that every technological advancement must remain at the service of the human person, the common good, and the truth.

As Pope Leo XIV writes:
โ€œIn the humble fidelity of daily life, even the era of AI can become a time in which the Holy Spirit brings about the civilization of love in our lives.โ€

This month, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV invites the faithful to pray for the values of sports. As we join the Holy Father in prayer, may we recognize that sports is more than competition and achievement. They build friendships, foster unity, develop character, and teach us the values of discipline, humility, teamwork, and mutual respect. May every field, court, and arena become a place where human dignity is upheld and where people encounter one another as brothers and sisters.

On this day, the Executive Board members of the UST Pax Romana SHS Unit attended "Curtain Call 2026: The Final Bow" at the Frassati Auditorium.

The organizationโ€™s graduating student leaders were recognized and pinned with a symbol of the faithful service they rendered throughout their term, staying true to their mission of servant leadership rooted in the Catholic faith.

The UST Pax Romana SHS Unit is grateful to have taken part in this activity which honors the dedication, perseverance, and commitment of those who have faithfully served the Thomasian community.
