ALAY KAPWA PARA SA CAPIZ

Mga pinalangga nga kautoran kay Kristo, sa tunga sang kalisod nga ginpas-an sang aton mga pumoluyo tungod sa mabaskog nga pagbaha nga gindalá ni Bagyo Ramil, ang Arkidiosesis sang Capiz, paagi sa aton pinalangga nga Arzobispo, Most Rev. Victor B. Bendico, D.D., nagapanawagan sang aton tagipusuon kag pagbinuligay.

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, in the midst of the hardship being endured by our fellow citizens due to the severe flooding brought by Typhoon Ramil, the Archdiocese of Capiz, through our beloved Archbishop, the Most Rev. Victor B. Bendico, D.D., is calling upon our hearts to unite in compassion and solidarity.

Now that many families have lost their homes, sources of livelihood, and even their loved ones, we appeal to everyone to open their hearts and extend help. Even a small act of kindness — whether food, clothing, water, or financial assistance — can bring great hope to those who are suffering today.

The life of a Christian is a life of love and compassion. In this time of crisis, we are all called to stand together, to care for one another, and to let our neighbors feel that they are not alone.

Ginsundan ini sang Santos nga Misa nga ginpangunahan ni Most Rev. Victor B. Bendico, D.D., Arzobispo sang Capiz, samtang si Rev. Msgr.

𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒂 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒍𝒆

𝗥𝗼𝘅𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 – A female 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂 𝒎𝒚𝒅𝒂𝒔 (green sea turtle) having a length of 86 centimeters on its curved carapace and a width of 79 cm. weighing of approximately 67 kilograms was found dead by a fisherman floating in the waters near Sitio Nipa, Barangay Culasi, Roxas City, Capiz last June 29, 2025 at around 4:45 in the afternoon. The fisherman, concerned about the wildlife, promptly pulled said sea turtle ashore and informed proper authorities.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through its Provincial ENR Office (PENRO) in Capiz immediately conducted the proper documentation, to include photographs, was conducted on-site using the standard data recording Marine Turtle Stranding Report Form. It then coordinated with the Capiz Provincial Veterinary Office, the Department of |Agriculture Regional Office in Western Visayas and Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo for further assessment. The latter conducted a necropsy on the remains of the turtle.

The internal examination revealed significant gastrointestinal anomalies. Both of its small and large intestines were markedly distended, firm and impacted, containing dense masses of undigested fibrous algae/seaweeds and small nylon-like threads interspersed within intestines. Such matters compacted and possibly contributed to the hardening of its intestines and probably the factors or causes of its demise.

It was also observed that there was a remarkable thinning of the lining of its small intestines, indicating that the animal suffered from chronic digestive problems. Samples were collected and preserved at SEAFDEC for further laboratory examination. All observations were properly coordinated, presented and consulted with Dr. Lerisa F. Balopeños of the region’s Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RADDL).

The nation has just concluded its World Sea Turtle Day last June 16 as well as the Environment Month celebration with the theme, “Ending Global Plastic Pollution.”

PENRO Capiz appeals to local government units (LGUs) to intensify the campaign to deal with plastic pollution to save our marine environment and the wildlife that depends on it.

As we celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14, a time traditionally reserved for expressing affection and love, let us also take a moment to reflect on a love that sustains us all – the love for nature. Just as we cherish our relationships with those close to us, we must also recognize the importance of nurturing our connection with the planet.

In a month dedicated to love, let us extend that love beyond human connections and recognize our responsibility to care for the environment that provides for us. It’s not just about protecting the natural beauty around us, but about fostering a sense of reverence and gratitude for the Earth’s incredible gifts.

This February, may we be inspired to take action – big or small – to preserve the world we love, ensuring it continues to thrive for future generations.

Here are some tips on how to celebrate Valentine's Day in an eco-friendly way.
