ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE GRANT OF PLENARY INDULGENCE ON JULY 14, 2026

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

With hearts full of gratitude, we joyfully announce that the Apostolic Penitentiary, by mandate of the Holy Father, has granted the gift of a Plenary Indulgence on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the Diocese of Capiz and the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Capiz.

The Plenary Indulgence may be obtained again on July 14, 2026 under the usual conditions:

* Receive the Sacrament of Confession.
* Receive Holy Communion.
* Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.
* Be truly repentant and free from attachment to sin.

The indulgence may be gained by:

1. Participating devoutly in the Jubilee Masses and receiving the Papal Blessing with the attached Plenary Indulgence at the conclusion of the celebration; or

2. Making a pilgrimage to the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral, taking part in the sacred liturgy or spending time in prayer before the Lord, concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith, and an invocation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and Mother of Mercy.

The indulgence may also be offered for the souls of the faithful departed in Purgatory.

Those who are unable to participate because of old age, illness, or another serious reason may also obtain the Plenary Indulgence by spiritually uniting themselves to the Jubilee celebrations, offering their prayers, sufferings, and hardships to God, while intending to fulfill the usual conditions as soon as possible.

May this extraordinary gift of God’s mercy inspire us to a deeper conversion, renewed faith, and joyful thanksgiving as we celebrate seventy-five years of God’s abundant blessings upon the Archdiocese of Capiz.

FAITHFUL SHEPHERD AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Archdiocese of Capiz is pleased to announce the recipients of the Faithful Shepherd Award, honoring priests and bishops from the Archdiocese of Capiz who have rendered 35 years or more of faithful priestly ministry.

The awards will be conferred during the Jubilee Luncheon on July 14, 2026, at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center, Roxas City, as part of the culmination of the Diamond Jubilee of the Diocese of Capiz and the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Capiz.

APPOINTMENT

The Archbishop of Capiz, His Excellency, the Most Rev. Victor B. Bendico, D.D., has appointed the Rev. Fr. Patrick Jay B. Parce as Parochial Vicar of St. Thomas of Villanova Parish in Dao, Capiz, effective June 30, 2026 (Prot. N. 174/26).

The Archbishop of Capiz has issued a Pastoral Message in support for the White Ribbon March which will be held tomorrow, June 28, 2026, at the Edsa People Power Monument. He also requests that a special intention be included in the Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses tomorrow in the Archdiocese of Capiz.

THE FAITH AND SERVICE AWARDEES: GENERATIONS OF HEAVEN'S BLESSINGS

When we hear of awards, we often think of achievement and recognition. In the Church, however, awards are above all an expression of gratitude to God for the faithfulness of His people.

Inspired by the words of Jesus, “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Mt 25:21), the Faith and Service Awards honor men and women who have generously served our Local Church through the years. They remind us that holiness is often found in ordinary acts of faithfulness: teaching the faith, serving in the liturgy, leading ministries, caring for families, helping the poor, and supporting the mission of the Church.

The various award categories reflect the many ways the Holy Spirit works among God's people. Some awards are even given posthumously, reminding us that the fruits of a faithful life continue to inspire future generations.

As the Archdiocese of Capiz celebrates its Diamond Jubilee as a Diocese and Golden Jubilee as an Archdiocese, these awards invite us to reflect on our own call to serve. The awardees are truly generations of heaven's blessings, whose witness encourages us to live our faith with dedication and love.

SPECIAL PRAYERS AND SECOND COLLECTION FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE SARANGANI EARTHQUAKE

The Archdiocese of Capiz will hold a Second Collection in all Masses on June 14, 2026, including those celebrated on the evening of June 13, for the benefit of those affected by the recent earthquake in Sarangani and other parts of Mindanao.

Let us pray for the victims and respond generously in Christian solidarity.
