2ND DAY TRIDUUM NOVENA IN HONOR TO SAINT. MARY OF BETHANY

​O angel of holiness, blessed virgin of purity, mirror of true love, great Saint Mary of Bethany, you knelt at the feet of our Lord so that your beloved brother, His friend Lazarus, would be brought back to life by Him. Bearing your great faith, your brother was indeed raised, bringing joy to you and to the sorrowful Martha. Driven by deep hope, we come to you today, blessed Saint Mary of Bethany, that you may also revive [our spirit] amidst our trials in life. Grace us with a firm faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and may we offer Him our entire being, along with sincere repentance for our weaknesses. Likewise, we plead for your mercy, O blessed saint, show us your compassion and present our petition in this novena to God. ​Amen.

FIRST DAY NOVENA IN HONOR TO SAINT. MARY OF BETHANY

​O star of humility, light of those in darkness, blessed Saint Mary of Bethany, you who grew up in the company of your siblings, Lazarus and Martha. Close friend of our Lord Jesus. Exceptional disciple with a heart pure in goodness. Teach us never to forget the blessings bestowed upon us by God. Shower us, O great Saint, with the grace of diligence in doing holy works. Do not let us become lazy or weary. Awaken in our hearts the grace of this diligence, so that we, like you, may praise God and obtain the grace we request in this novena. ​Amen.

JULY 26 | FEAST OF STS. ANNE
(MOTHER OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY)

By tradition Joachim and Anne were the parents of Holy Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Even though they were not mentioned in the New Testament, their story is mentioned in a document called Gospel of James. Tradition also says that Joachim and Anne were childless for a long time and were praying God to give them a child. They were very rich and they used to help the poor and also gave support to the Temple. But sometimes the priests refused to receive the help of Joachim and Anne, because of their childlessness since having no child was considered as a curse of God at those times. They first lived in Galilee and then moved to Jerusalem. One day an angel appeared to them and said they would have a child soon. Anne vowed at that time to dedicate her child to the God. Joachim and Anne brought up their child Mary to be a worthy mother of God. Mary must also have followed the example of her parents in rearing her Son Jesus. God had selected Joachim and Anne as the parents of the mother of His own begotten son itself shows that they are very saintly before God and God loved them very much. St. Joachim and St. Anne are also a part of the God's plan of salvation of mankind from sins.

St. Anne is the patron saint of Christian mothers and women in labor.

JULY 25 | MEMORIAL OF ST. CHRISTOPHER

Christopher, which means "bearer of Christ," was born in Palestine around 220 AD, the son of a blacksmith, and was martyred in Lycia in southern Asia Minor in 250 AD at the young age of thirty, during the persecution of Emperor Decius. Often depicted carrying the Child Jesus while crossing a river, Christopher's devotion stemmed from his life's mission of assisting the weak and poor in their journeys. In a powerful encounter, while carrying a child across the river, he realized the child was Christ Himself, burdening him with the weight of the world, symbolizing Christopher's selfless service to humanity.

Saint Christopher, faithful servant of God and protector of travelers watch over me as I journey today. Guide my way guard me from danger and harm and keep me safe in body, mind, and spirit. JULY 22 | FEAST OF SAINT. MARY MAGDALENE

Known as the woman possessed with seven demons that Our Lord Jesus cast out from her, Mary Magdalene became one of His key disciples, following Him until His Crucifixion and death. Due to her fidelity, she was given the privilege to see Our Resurrected Lord first (aside from the Blessed Virgin Mary, according to Sacred Tradition) and was sent to spread the news of His resurrection to the Apostles and fellow disciples. This significant episode led the Dominican Order to place themselves under her patronage. St. Mary Magdalene later preached and lived in solitude in France, where she died, becoming a model both for active and contemplative life.

PRAYER to St. Mary Magdalene

O beloved Saint Mary Magdalene, you who were forgiven much and loved much, pray for us who seek the mercy of Christ. Teach us to follow the Lord with unwavering faith, to rise from sin with courage and humility, and to proclaim His Resurrection with joy.
Intercede for us, that we may experience true conversion of heart and walk in the light of God’s love. Amen.

[Let us pray] O God, whose Only Begotten Son entrusted Mary Magdalene before all others with announcing the great joy of the Resurrection, grant, we pray, that through her intercession and example we may proclaim the living Christ and come to see him reigning in your glory. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, our loving Mother, who continually leads us to her Son, Jesus Christ. The Brown Scapular is one of the Church's most beloved sacramentals—a visible sign of our devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and our commitment to imitate her virtues through a life of prayer, holiness, and faithful discipleship.

JULY 15 | MEMORIAL OF ST. BONAVENTURE BISHOP AND DOCTOR OF THE CHURCH

Today, the Church commemorates the Memorial of St. Bonaventure, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

Known as the "Seraphic Doctor," St. Bonaventure was a brilliant theologian, faithful Franciscan, and humble servant of the Church. As Minister General of the Franciscan Order, he preserved the unity and spirit of St. Francis of Assisi while guiding the Order with wisdom, charity, and deep love for Christ. His writings reveal that true wisdom is not found in knowledge alone, but in a heart that is deeply united with God through prayer, humility, and love.

St. Bonaventure taught that the journey to God begins with faith, is strengthened through contemplation, and reaches its fulfillment in loving union with Christ. His life reminds us that learning and holiness are inseparable, and that every pursuit of truth should ultimately lead us closer to the One who is Truth itself.

May St. Bonaventure intercede for us, that we may seek wisdom with humility, grow in our love for God, and faithfully follow Christ in every aspect of our lives.
