Like Joshua, when we know and obey God’s Word, we stay strong in our faith and can help others follow God, too!

Obeying God’s Word can happen in simple ways every day! When your parents ask you to help clean up your toys even when you don’t feel like it, you are obeying God’s command to honor your father and mother. When you choose not to join in when classmates are making fun of someone, you are obeying God’s Word to love others. Maybe you’ve memorized a Bible verse about being kind, and you remember it when your little sibling annoys you, that’s God’s Word helping you obey! Joshua stayed true to God all his life because he kept God’s Word close to his heart. You can do the same every day by reading your Bible, praying, and asking God to help you make the right choices.

The more we read the Bible, the more we understand how much God loves us, and that fills our hearts with joy!

Delighting in God’s Word is like finding treasure that makes you so excited you can’t help but smile! Think about when you finally get that toy or game you’ve been saving up for. It makes your heart so happy, right? God’s Word is even better! When you read a Bible verse that reminds you that God is always with you, like when you’re nervous about a quiz or sad because you had a fight with a friend, it lifts your heart and gives you hope. You can also find joy by sharing a verse with a friend who’s feeling down, or by singing worship songs that are full of God’s truth. Like the two disciples, the more you know Jesus through His Word, the more joyful your heart will be!

Josiah could have ignored what he read, but because he loved God’s Word, he made changes so he and his people would obey God.

Having an upright heart like Josiah means loving God’s Word so much that you want to live by it every day! Imagine if you learned the safety rules for crossing the street, but ignored them. Yikes! That wouldn’t be smart! God’s Word is like life’s instruction manual, it helps you know what is right. Maybe you are tempted to join in when classmates make fun of someone, or you feel like lying about homework. But when you remember God’s Word, it helps you choose honesty, kindness, and courage instead! Like Josiah, you can help others follow God by setting an example, maybe standing up for a classmate who’s left out, or reminding your friends what’s right even when no one else will. Loving God’s Word shapes your heart to love what is right!

The Ethiopian official wanted to understand God’s Word, and God answered his desire by sending Philip. When we read the Bible with a heart that wants to know God more, He will help us understand and follow Him too!

Having a heart that seeks God’s Word means being eager and excited to know Him more every day! Just like the Ethiopian official, you might sometimes read the Bible and not fully understand it right away, and that’s okay! You can ask your parents, your Kids Church teachers, or even pray and ask God to help you understand. It’s like when you play a new video game or try a new board game, you don’t get all the rules at first, but you keep reading the instructions or asking for help until you get it. Or when you study in school, like trying to understand math problems, you don’t give up; you ask your teacher or a classmate to explain! That’s the kind of heart God loves, a heart that doesn’t give up but keeps looking for His truth. And when you learn God’s Word, it will help you make good choices, like being kind to a classmate even when they’re not nice, or being honest even when no one is looking. God’s Word changes how we live every day!

Growing in our faith is not something we do alone. We need others to help us learn, challenge us, and encourage us. Like the early church, we might have questions or disagreements, but when we seek God's truth together, we grow stronger in our faith and unity.

Have you ever disagreed with a friend? Disagreeing with someone doesn’t automatically make the other person your enemy. Maybe you thought one thing, and they thought another. It could just be different opinions. Sometimes, we need to talk things out and figure out what is true and right. Have you ever learned something new because someone helped you understand it? That’s what discipleship is, growing together by learning and following Jesus with others. Maybe you’ve had a friend who encouraged you when you felt down or a leader who taught you about the Bible. When we grow together, we become more like Jesus! If you want to grow in your faith with friends, why not join a discipleship group? It’s a great way to learn, ask questions, and follow Jesus together!

The church is called to pray together. When we pray with other people from church, it's special and powerful. The early Christians in the Bible "met regularly to learn, break bread, and pray together" (Acts 2:42). Just like when the church prayed for Peter while he was in jail, amazing things can happen when we join our prayers together!

Praying together helps everyone in the church. If someone feels sad or worried, hearing friends pray for them makes them feel better. Praying together also helps us care more about each other. When we pray as a church family, like Peter's friends did, we remember that we're not alone, we have God and each other to help with big problems.

God gives each of us unique talents and abilities to serve others. By serving together, we reflect Jesus' love and help more people know Him. As the church grows, so do the needs of the people. When we work together, we ensure no one is left out and we allow the gospel to reach even more people. Every act of service, whether big or small, helps the church family grow and show God's love.

A good illustration of this is a team sport like basketball or football/soccer. Each player has a specific role to play. Some are for defense, others to score points, etc. They work together to achieve a common goal, to win! In church, we all have a role to play too, and our goal is to advance God’s kingdom by sharing His love through our words and actions.

What if no one helped at church? Who would preach, serve, or encourage others? When we each do our part, the whole church becomes stronger. Even as young as you are right now, God has given you the ability to serve. Maybe you could hold the door open for someone, pray for a friend, or invite someone new to Kids Church. No one can do it all alone, but together we can accomplish God's mission.
